For large files, what is the safest and most reliable storage media to store files?
That depends on what you mean by "large files." For write once files I would use either a BD disc which will last about 50 years or M-Discs (I already have with family home videos) which are supposed to last a thousand years. For stored TV and movies I would use a Samsung T7 (done that too!) for quick access. Portable Solid State discs are quite reliable and fast and all they require is a single USB cable for hookup and power. Unlike platter drives they have no moving parts, and they don't need to be defragmented. In fact it's best to avoid defragging them since they never need it and it could reduce their life span.
