It seems to me like reinventing the wheel, but I am taking on a project of personal interest to start cataloging my DVD's and movies digitally. I remember quite a few months back, Life Hacker's Hive Five pitted a few DVD cataloging software against each other. The "Clear" winner was Delicious which is proprietary and mac only, and it seems to me there aren't any options that are really aiming to be one of the "Standards" when it comes to movie cataloging. I first thought of a HTML interface, powered by a local server backend, but that makes deployment a nightmare, security concerns et al. Then I thought about packaging it with Gecko, and that led me to XULRunner, cross platform by the way. I was most inspired by the library features of XBMC, and would like to build it around that concept. I think the only difference would be the cataloging of physical disks. I have a file at home with the table structure for the database and I'll post that later. Any comments or suggestions? And does anyone know of a gecko extension for advanced blending options (multiply, hue, luminosity)?
