Hi, sorry had to start a new topic because I can't reply to one over 60 days old. :)

I'm using MPC 6.4.9.0 (on XP SP2) and just installed FFDShow so that I can display subtitles from .SRT files, yet I'm not getting any subtitles on the screen, not before installing FFDShow nor after.

I have two files: an AVI and SRT, both named the same and in the same folder. I've tried MPC output options VMR7, VMR7, DX7 and DX9 in all combinations and still no subtitles.

I'm at at a loss.. it used to work on my old laptop, just set this one up and can't get it to work. Any advice much appreciated!

    Cheers

    Extra info:

Just discovered I can load the subs manually via the file menu.

So the problem seems to be it's not finding the file automatically, even though avi and srt have the same name in the folder.

    Cheers

Instead of using MPC,use VLC Media PLayer. All you do is go to file>open file and then open the file you want to play and underneath it should be a box that says use a subttiles file.Tick it and open the subtiles file.
    Hope this helps!
