I just got a new computer and am installing all the programs onto this one that I had on my old one. One of those programs is Media Player Classic; I don't actually use it for playing video files (I use VLC instead) but I do use it for saving thumbnails of videos. However, while VLC works on my new computer, Media Player Classic does not. I can only open WMV and MOV files with it; every time I try to open any AVI files I get an error message saying the following: "Media Player Classic could not render some of the pins in the graph, you may not have the needed codecs or filters installed on the system." Then, when I open and play WMV and MOV files with it, the videos will play fine but when I go to save the thumbnails with them I get another error message, this one saying: "GetCurrentImage failed, hr = 80004001" What can I do about this? Media Player Classic worked fine on my old computer and it was the same program opening the same files on the same operating system, so I'm not sure what the problem here is. Can anyone help? Thanks!
For the thumbs, try View -> Options -> Playback -> Output -> in the DirectShow Video panel, try something other than 'Overlay Mixer' You might need to install the likes of 'FFDSHOW' for MPC to open the AVI files. http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/codecs_and_filters/ffdshow.cfm
