Hi, i run MPC and have just tried VLC, i like MPC way more, but for some reason there seemed to be better video quality on the VLC while playing a regular dvd, does anyone know how to set up MPC so you get the same video quality while playing dvd, i have a ATI Radeon X1900XTX wich has several hardware features that can be used while playing dvd, does anyone know how to set up MPC the best way for such a config?

VLC is the better program,MPC is the easier program,I prefer useign MPC for everything but DVDs,MPC DVD codec is a bit off and hates some menu designs, unless someone knows of a better DVD codec for MPC your better off getting used to VLC for running some.

VLC also has intenal codecs that can be less tricky t deal with than normal winodse codecs, meaning VLC can play nearly anything as well as bad files, that and its good DVD playing ability is why I put up with it for somethings, but most of the time I like MPC since its fing easy *L*

If you insist on trying, you can check the filters(codecs) and tweak them and try to bring out the best quality for the DVD but anything mroe than that I am not sure off.

I have direct show filter handling all video ,it has alot of options to adjust picture quality I up saturation, deblocking and deinterlanceing with blur to make vids colorful and smooth.

    Thanks for the help.
I just have some troubles setting up my audio in VLC.
I run both AC3 content aswell as regular dvd material with dolby digital 5.1 and DTS right through optical viring to my amplifier where it is first decoded, but when i use VLC it seems to mess this up no matter how i set up my audio output or filters such as AC3filter, that is why i mainly does not like it.

ya VLC is a pain to adjust they need to simplify the options and interface all around...

when you play a DVD whats in the filter list?
if FF dshow is not showing then you might need to adjust it to do MP2 codecs then use its filters and optimizers to get a better quality video.
