How do I install the ogg vorbis codec for media player classic, I already have VLC player but I dont get very good sound quality on any media file using it. If anyone could suggest how to improve the sound quality or how to install the codec for media player classic that would be great. Cheers Steve

I have used the installer and checked that it has installed the dll files but windows media still wont play the file saying the file is corrupt or in a format not recognised and media player classic plays the video but says the codec is not found for the audio and doesnt play it. Do you have to have media player classic in your system folder or can it be anywhere. By the way I'm using windows ME if that explains anything. Cheers Steve
Win ME, well. Do you not want to use the M$ Windows Media 9 player? Its free. Also, what files are you tring to play? Are they Divx, Mpeg, or Ogg Thera files (.ogg)? The file I'm trying to play is an .avi file. When I use gspot to open the file it says it is using xvid and i have 3 codecs installed which is right because the video plays in media player classic and that the audio is 'ogg_vorbis_1 (0x674f) Ogg Vorbis' and that the codec is not installed even though I installed it using the two links on this thread, one of which I have now tried twice. Well, I must say, you did an excellent job using GSpot! Either the Xvid or Divx codecs should work with the video portion. Its surprising that the OGG DS filters don't work with MPC well enough to decode the audio. You said that you also tried VLC. To date VLC has played everything I've thrown at it like a champ (MPEG-1 too MPEG-4). The only thing I can recommend from my experiences is to try another media player. I would try either WinAMP or Jet Audio 6. Jet Audio 6 has its own proprietary OOG Vorbis codec that it uses and WinAMP does aswell. Also you may have more than one codec or DS filter attempting to do te same job which is known to cause issues during playback. If none of my suggestions work I would try posting this question in the [bold]Playback Problems[/bold] {http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/48608} forum room here at AD for more (expert) assistance. You may have to uninstall a certain filter or there may be known issues, concerning Win ME and Ogg Vorbis, that another filter or codec handles flawlessly. The people in that room should know, its all they talk about. [bold]Tips[/bold] Have you tried using GSpot's "Render" feature?" It will tell you exactly which codecs or filters you PC is trying to use! Another excellent Media file analyser: http://avicodec.duby.info/ AviCodec works great with AVI files of all types. Will also tell you what codecs are installed as well as what codec is needed to decoded a particular file. It also will tell you what created each particular A/V stream.
