I bought the universal remote for the 360 (microsoft's remote) and i got the thing working for my tv but the only thing that works for the xbox is the x button that pulls up the tab with your gamertag community...etc. How do i get the damn thing to work for my 360?

no offense....but this came with the remote and i obviosuly read that first. does anyone out there have this remote? did it eork with your xbox right away or did you have to do something to make more than the x button at the tope work. the arrow keys do not move through the tabs...the a x b and y buttons do nothing...the play..stop...pause...menu..etc buttons do nothing while playing music or movies....???

if it helps...all of the tv function buttons....when you push them...the buttons light up....the only button the the xbox functions that does the same is the x button on the top....which makes me think that the other buttons dont work because when you press them...the backlight does nothing

    Using Your Remote

The Universal Media Remote works only with TVs, the Xbox 360 console, and a connected Microsoft Windows Media Center?based PC. It does not control VCRs, stand-alone DVRs and DVD players, or audio equipment.

The remote offers convenient backlit buttons that dim when not in use, a 30-foot range, and a 90-degree operational radius (plus/minus 45 degrees).
    Controller Buttons

The Xbox Guide button on your remote puts the Xbox 360 experience at your fingertips. Use this button to turn your console on and off, and use the Xbox Guide button along with the A, B, X, Y, and OK buttons to navigate and control the Xbox Guide and the Xbox Dashboard, just as you'd use your controller.

The remote's Open/Close button will open and close the console's disc tray. The On/Off button will turn either your console or your TV on or off, depending on whether the remote is in TV mode or controller mode (press the TV button to switch between them).

A dedicated Back button simplifies Xbox Dashboard navigation.
    TV Buttons

To use the universal media remote with your TV, press the TV button to switch to TV mode. To switch to controller mode, simply press TV again.

    TV buttons consist of:

    * TV: Toggles between TV mode and controller mode.
    * On/Off: Turns your TV or your Xbox 360 console on or off.
    * VOL: Turns your TV volume up or down.
    * CH/PG: Changes the TV channel.
    * Mute: Mutes your TV's sound.
    * Input: Changes the input on your TV, letting you switch between, say, Xbox 360 and your cable-TV signal.
    * Numeric keys: Use the number keys (0?9) for direct channel entry when not using the Xbox 360 system.

must be something to do with the less than helpful thread title ie "wtf is wrong!?!?" - most people won't even look at a thread that has a useless or unhelpful thread title. Plus do you find it acceptable having a thread title like that on these very public forums ?
