    Price Match Rules!
My local Sears is out of the MIJ 8x Sonys. Why? I bought all of the ones they had about a month ago! Ha Ha Ha!
Bad News? The new ones they got back in are the 16x MIT flavor, but, that is not all bad. Good Media still.

I went to Staples, and they only had the MIT :(

My last batch of Sony MIT were junk, so i'm not buying them again.

I will only buy MIJ Sony's from now on.

I know. I just prefer Sonys. Besides Office Dpot annoyed me first that they were out and second when they said it was another store in the city which I slogged through traffic to discover that they were not only out and that every other store in the area that aid there was stock in there computer was out too.

Are they coded MCC now? The last MIT batch I bought was a year ago and they were terrible (they weren't MCC or TY). I usually stick with TY and MCC unless I'm desperately in need, and MIJ's are usually one of those.

You know, sometimes places like Big Lots, Walgreens, CVS, unclaimed freight outlets, and flea markets have just what we're looking for. But be sure to keep a poker face at the flea markets, and for goodness sakes, don't seem too enthusiastic.

Staples also has Kodak DVD media (50 pack) for $9.98. Are these any good? How are they compared to Sony Taiwan?

Regarding rewritable media, Staples has Sony DVD+RW or -RW 25 pack for $12.98. I would prefer to get DVD+RW. Are these good media and is the price good?

I assume that you are talking about 16x discs.

    Kodak 16x +R ~ ~ OPTODISCR16

    Kodak 16x -R ~ ~ OPTODISCR016

I imagine that they would do a pretty good job protecting a coffee table from those sweaty beer bottles . . .

The Sony RW discs are as follows:

    2.4x +RW ~ ~ RICOHJPNW01

    4x +RW ~ ~ PHILIPS.041 or RICOHJPNW11 or SONY....S11

Personally, I don't like the -RW discs . . as far as the codes for the +RW Sony discs

I've used them all and had good success with all of them
Sometimes it helps to erase them first before you use them - I don't know why but it seems to make them more dependable - I only use them in my set-top recorders and only erase them with my computer

    1. The above is out of date info. All the Kodak disks at Staples are Made in China, whereas Optodisc is only Made in Taiwan. The Kodak disks at Staples have UME and AML media codes.

    2. OPTODISCR16 burns as good as or better than Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden. You should thank your favorite deity if you ever find some.

I have used OPTODISCR16 in both my BenQ and Plextor and they were worthless . . .
