I gotta admit, it feels good to be able to contribute some helpful info back to the forum. The folks here have always been more than eager to offer help for any problems I've had. Thanks guys!
dipset121- Only difference of consequence for most anyways between DVD-R & DVD+R verbatims or indeed any brand of media for that matter is DVD+R allows you to booktype your Media to DVD-ROM ! Basicallly it puts a code on your recorded disc that tells your Burner, Drive, DVD player ect...That the DVD+R disc you just lovingly recorded is really a DVD-ROM disc ( even Though technically it's not ) And thus is the most compatibility you can have short of a DVD-RoM ( A Dvd Movie , Game disc , Or Program )Like the Original dvd's you buy versus your backup copy! Other than that DVD-R /DVD+R are about what and what ! if you are'nt having compatability problems (usually older Dvd players ) DVD-R is fine & and just slightly more compatable than non -bookTyped DVD+R ! That being said if you like DVD+R or get better results with your Burner or DVD recorder with DVD+R ( many DVD recorders DVR's Are DVD+R only !) by all means ! Buy and or use them ! The only catch to DVD+R is when buying online in Bulk They are usually more expensive than DVD-R for some reason ! Buying Branded media Like The verbatims, Sony's ect.. the price for Either DVD+R or DVD-R are normally equal ! So The speed reading version on DVD-R is the DVD-R format will be fine ive used 100s of them ! good luck & happy holidays ***********
Confirmed. I printed out their web page and took it to a locak B&M OM and the manager honored the $7.98 price. I took one platter up to the counter and after the confirmation I said I want to get some more. He gave me a look and said "how many", I said "three more" and he said "OK". I think that if I tried to push my luck, he would have nixed the whole deal. I'm happy.
WOW!! What a deal of a deal on those verbs! Thank You mrhilbily !!! man that's the lowest i've ever seen on quality dvd media!! Happy Holidays To All!!!
I happened to be near an OfficeMax yesterday so I stopped. One of the sales guys asked if he could help me almost as soon as I got inside and I told him I was looking for the Verbs I saw online for $7.98. He gave me one of those "Yeah Right" looks and we walked to the office so that he could look it up. His "Yeah Right" look changed to an "OOOPS" ! It was PRICELESS!!!!!!!!! He asked how many I would like and I told him 4 because I didn't want to come off as too greedy. As we were going to the cash register, he was telling another clerk about it. Both were saying they were going to stock up when it was time to go home. LOL On my way home, I started thinking about how I wouldn't be surprised to see a sudden increase of Verbatim DVD-R 50 pks. on EBAY in the near future!
mrhilbily- Again thanx for the heads up on the Verbatim sale ! As they say on the CreditCard commercial " Priceless !!!!!" The last time I was able to stick it to a Store on some Verbatims was at my Local /relatively anyways BestBuy ! (30miles -1 way ) I was looking for some Sony's (Mij if they had them !) & I seem to remember either they were sold out ! or Only had the Made in Taiwan sony's - I spied Some Verbatim 50ct. spindles in a cubbyhole near the computer section . The price label said $14.99 which was a deal @ that time & it was also the price from the previous weeks Verbatim sale too ! I snagged 2 packs of DVD+R & headed to the register/Checkout area . All happy-like with my Verbatim find ! When the counter girl got to me she starts to ring the 2 spidles up @ full price $29.99 ea. +tax ! Whoa !nelly " I say !!!!" The are on sale $14.99 That's what the sign says by the computer section ! So I take her to where the Verbatims are she see's the mispriced Price label and Huff's !! back to the register ( HarrhumpH!!!!!!!!!!!!) Long story short I got them @ the sale pice But had to fill out reams of paperwork !, Give a blood sample & promise them my first born Child !!!! LOL! Well I am exagerating about the Child & the blood but not to much on the paperwork ! The counter girl also ripped the price sticker off of where the verbatims were @ too ! which ended up being ridiculous because they went on sale again for the $14.99 price the following sunday ( Ha! , Ha! ha! !!!!LOL! It helps to be nice If they would'nt have given me the price as marked I was going to tell her to stick both spindles somewhere besides the display floor ! Thankfully that was not necessary LOL! Or as Gossip Columnist Rona Barret used to say " Keep thinking those good Thoughts!!! Merry Xmas mrhilbily & everyone Ciao!
well i'm just gonna have to go to office max and get me some... printed out the online add for $7.98 so lets give it a go...
LOL!!!!! Merry Christmas to you too BIGTOXY69. To be fair to the folks at OfficeMax, I've never had a problem with any of the sale folks at the stores I've been in. Hmmmmmmmmm,I don't know if Circuit City carries Verbatims, but if they do, would they honor this price with their 110% guarantee? That would be $7.18 a 50 pack if they did!!!!!!
get a load of this.... i went to office max.. hunted around and found only 1, 50pack of the -r's. no problem better than none.. i go to pay for it the guy gives me greif about it... i showed him the online add, he said that is for online purchase only. i asked to see the manager. he comes and i tell him about the online add.. he argues with me about it. then his assistant comes over and says he had been seeling them for the 7.98 all week long..... and i asked if that is this not still part of the week that i could get them for that price also, seeing that it is the last one they had in stock.. the manager got mad and made his assistant ring me up...LMAO
Way to go manager........piss and moan about a little sale and make the customer feel like crap. I'd write to the main head quarters and COMPLAIN about his attitude and see if there's a new manager next time you visit. =]
oh i thought it was comical. the manager didnt have a clue but the 17yo assistant did. pretty funny... i had in my mind going in there might be a problem i wasnt gonna push it for some disc... you should have seen his face when the assistant said he had been seeling them all week for $7.98..... i about fell down laughing then. shame 1 stack is all they had...lol
cincyrob- Yeah Often times it's the lowly ( no disrepect intended ) sales clerk /associate ! that's on top of whats happening in the store ! A lot of managers like to hide away so they don't have to deal with the customers if there is a problem ! & and alot of managers don't know squat about the product they were highered simply because they were a manager at another store! not because they new anything about the current employers bussiness ! They have a few here & there that are on the Beam but like MIJ Sony's the good ones are harder to find ! And sometimes people are just being buttholes let's face it !I had a salesclerk at a walgreens try to tell me I could'nt buy all the TDK cassettes that I had in my cart ! they were on sale with no limit per customer ! I showed her that in the add too ! I only had 20 packs/polybags ! ( all they had on the shelf !!!!) She said The manager will have to approve it ! The manager was cool ! he told Miss Thing What's the problem ? If the customer has the money ring him (me ) up !!! she still were'nt happy but she did it ! Like everyone else at first I thought The OFFICEMAX verbatims sale was a Misprint but Apparetly it's straight Busssiness So my 7 are coming by however OfficeMax Ships ? UPS , FEDEX. ( KfeD-LOL) , Or mule train LOL! cardinal rule though if you are in a bussiness or store & they try to shine you on - Start talking loudly & boisterously ( make a scene ) They don't want all the negative attention you will draw ! especially if you are right ! after all all they can do is kick you out ! But in general they will probably give you the sale price to be rid of you ! It does'nt always work but ! nothing is certain in life but taxes ! Happy Burning !
i havent found circut city to carry anything but junk.. just my opinion... thats disc wise that is....
i ordered 7 packs also to get the free shipping , it said 1 to 5 days for delivery Rob you should just order them online that way you get as many as you want without dealing with idiots
In the words of that Great Indeedist Philospher aabbccdd " Indeed !!!!! !" LOL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good advice Too ! aabbccdd ! My email from Officemax says 2 to 7 days - wonder whether they ship from the nearest store or from a central warehouse? Curiouser & Curiouser ? Merry Christmas all ! Ho! ho! HO!
