Yes, B&M means Brick & Mortar, in other words, the price is available in-store only.

I picked up a 100 pk spindle of sony at Staples:

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    I am very satisfied!!

    BurningAs:

I got Cmags on the last 2 batches of Maxell +16x:

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Unique Disc Identifier : [DVD+R:CMC MAG-M01-000]
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Disc & Book Type : [DVD+R] - [DVD-ROM]
Manufacturer Name : [CMC Magnetics Corp.]
    Manufacturer ID : [CMC MAG]
    Media Type ID : [M01]
    Product Revision : [Not Specified]
    Blank Disc Capacity : [2,295,104 Sectors = 4.70 GB (4.38 GiB)]
    Recording Speeds : [1x-2.4x , 4x , 6x-8x , 6x-16x]
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------

These are not too shabby! Burned 100 out of 100,but I kept the burn speed at 4x after checking out a few scans.

    BIGnewb:
Look for the latest firmware update from HP,but their practices keep firmware updates to a minimum so we users have to upgrade to newer/faster drives to keep up with the faster speeds of media.

You will have a harder time finding slower speed of blank media,so you may want to consider upgrading to a newer drive and use if strictly for burning. Then you can use the HP 400c drive as the reader. Most HP burners are not on the quality side, but excellent readers.

Gottawin: Thanx for the tip. I will check on my local Kroger's and look to see if they have any dvd media on clearance. Those Maxell002-00 are very fine discs.

I picked 2-100 packs of the Sony's +R's at Staples. They code out as 1st class media. Thinking about getting another pack today.

I just got 2 packs of them from Office Depot with a price match and they were CMC MAG.M01. I was less than happy, but so far at least I haven't had a burn error yet. Still for some reason the burns look faded if that makes sense. I don't think I'll be buy anymore Maxell discs since you don't know what you'll get.

Maxell media that is RICOHJPN is EASY to spot. It has "/RT" in the part number.

The only reason I picked up those Maxells was because they had MIJ printed on them. I thought that since the cake boxes were so dusty that they must have been manufactured when the company cared about what they put in the box .. .. .. . (The price helped too.)

Made in Japan Maxell discs code as MXLRG01, MXLRG02, MXLRG03, MXLRG04, MAXELL001, MAXELL002 OR MAXELL003 and are made by Maxell/Hitachi in Japan.

Since Pioneer no longer makes discs, the Maxell/Hitachi discs are the only other discs that have come out of Japan (besides TY, of course) in a number of years.

Some of the older Maxell -4x yellowtops were made in japan and Coded as Ty-g01. I'm sure they have been extinct for several years.

Here's the maxells that I have used so far:

    MAXELL:

    +4X MADE IN TAIWAN: RICOHJPN-R01
    +8X MADE IN TAIWAN: RITEK-R03
    +8X MADE IN JAPAN: MAXELL-002-00
+8X MADE IN JAPAN FULL HUB PRINTABLE: MAXELL-002-00
    +16x MADE IN TAIWAN: CMCMag-M01

    YELLOWTOPS

    -4X MADE IN TAIWAN: RITEK-G03
    -4X MADE IN JAPAN: TY-G01
    -4X MADE IN JAPAN: MXL-RG02

    GOLDTOPS

    -8X MADE IN TAIWAN: RITEK-G05
    -8X MADE IN JAPAN: MXL-GR03

Are you going to burn them all someday or leave them blank? If I found a batch in my home (not likely) I'd burn them!!
