If the sony 8X MIJ +Rs have white octagonal spacer then they a TY T02s. Not so for 16X +Rs media. Some -R 16X Sony media are TYs.

Just hit ALT-PRINTSCREEN to do a screen capture of the Neor Infotool and hit CTRL-V to paste it into your favorite editing program. However, I've seen the quality scans of TYG03 and know they are ***sweeeeeet!***

 

For Sony -R 16X MIJs 50 count try Walmart. I just check my local walmart and 3 out of the 6 had the octagon spacer. Price $23.47 for the 50 count.

 

That comes out to 46 cents a piece. I buy TY online for 32 cents a piece delivered, and my last batch came out to less than 30 because it was on sale. No tax or gas either.

 

I've purchased lots and lots of Sony/Yuden DVDs from WalMart because at times, they are the only vender that has the MIJ Sony discs . . But, as Dunker pointed out, 46¢ each is too much to pay for them . . I wait until my wife needs to make a WalMart trip and I get a local ad . . . WalMart will price match . . plus, if my wife is shopping, I can get her to pay for them . . last time I had her purchase discs was 2 months ago and they cost $12.50/50 . .

And . . if you shop at a 'brick and mortar' store there is no such thing as a RMA

catfreak- Yes What you said (Agree!)- garmoon set up page ? Like a profile you mean that Kinda Thing ? Don't actually live in Baton Rouge but shop there often ! If that helps ! I pulled a catfreak at walmart awhile back & Pricematched some MiJ Sony's ( Octagon ) "sakura " - Makes Chuck Norris whispering voice ! ( Quite poorly I might add!) But Like our esteemed Catfreak I would'nt Buy them at Wallyworlds Everday Low price ! So much to look forward To - Walmart closing in a nearby town - Moving locations & opening a SuperWallys so Waiting for the Big sell down ! & two more months it'll be BLACK FRIDAY!!!! Yeah ! Still have'nt decided on my Xmas and birthday presents yet( DECEMBER) Oh well maybe something will grab me bye then ! Hi.... First Post. Have not lurked long but have learned alot about media from you guys. I recently started burning DVDs and thanks to your posts I purchased 3 50 packs of the Sonys with the octagon stopper before I even knew what they were. I have been to every best buy and circuit city in Louisville KY last week looking for the octagon spacer with no luck. Thanks to pahick posting about the 50 packs at staples I went back to the site of my original purchase and dug thru everything on the shelf and came up with 6 packs -R X16 with the white octagon spacer Made In Japan. Thanks to all for the great posts!

This is a scan of the Sony 8x MIJ I bought at Staples. Ill try to get one of the 16x -R tonight after work..

If you got a decent burner, go ahead and burn those 16X TYs @ 8Xs no problem. I burn the TY 8X+Rs at 8X easily.

 

I burn all my 16x discs at maximum speed.

 

hey anotehr thing.... wats teh system req. to burn at 16X because im on a old 1.3 GHZ PC and when i burn at 16X the Pioneer 111D drive goes loud vvveerrrrrr.... then stops, then veeeeeeerrr... then stops, and keeps on doing that untill done, by that time burning at 12X would have been faster!

so i think my PC cant keep up woth the fast 16X burn or soemthing?

 

@XxRUINSxX...wow burning at 16x...really maxing it out huh lol? i have burned mine at 16x a few times and it would play fine on my player but when i et a friend borrow it they said it skipped out the room lol.so i keep mine at 4x just for all-around use

kypartman- Then your starting out on The " GOOD FOOT!!!" to quote James Brown ! Although BestBuy Seems to be a Favorite with many afterdawners you should not limit yourself to just one retailer. You can on occasion find The MIj SONY ( OCTAGON SPACER) media in some unlikely places . Like Walmart , K Marts . ect... Although with the other Non- BestBuy retailers the brand of media may change from week to week & store to store ! . With BestBuy they seem to Rotate their blank Media Sales between Sony( HopeFuLLy MIJ ) Verbatim - Excellent as well, And then Crap Media Like - Memorex , Imation or some off brand ! The trick is to buy when their selling the good brands and avoid the junk which they will gladly sell you at the same price! Go figure ! Additionaly you can often find Good media at Stores like wakgreens /Cvs ect... although the prices are'nt usually as nice as Other retailers unless the pricematch - Like walmart ! Or are marked down for clearnce ect... kypartman You've done well ! Hope theese few pointers may help you out ! Good luck & welcome aboard ! Ciao!
