It's official - Best Buy is out to get me!!! I went there on Sunday and again on Wednesday. None. I asked for a raincheck but the guy said they don't give out rainchecks, so I went home and called the Best Buy reps and they said they have to give rainchecks unless there's a mention of limited supplies. So I called my local Best Buy store and the manager said they don't give out rainchecks anymore. I wrote Best Buy back and hopefully, the stupid store manager will get in trouble.

Anyway, has anyone else noticed the thinning supply of DVD+Rs at your local stores? Is there some collusion going on? I know it's not because of some incredible demand - just seems that they - Circuit City, CompUSA, BestBuy, etc. - are not restocking the shelves for them. Do I need to start hoarding them now?

DogBomb, no, actually, I've been finding some good sales on both DVD+R and DVD-R. Office Depot had Vebatim DVD+/-R's on sale 30 for $36 a couple of weeks ago, although I had to go to a couple of stores to find them. Maybe just your area?

Actually Sam's Club keeps +R's and -R's in stock pretty regularly, that is the only place I buy mine. You can get Verbatim spindles of 30 for $47 and packs of 10 for $26 and packs of 10 +RW's for $29. Pretty good prices if you ask me, and my Office Depot here in Gainesville keeps a nice supply of both +R's and -R's in all the time, but they are only 15 packs and are a little more expensive. If you notice places running shy of these and just cannot find any, let me know and we can work out something and I can get you some pretty good deals at Sam's and get them shipped to you.
    Thanks,
    Benjimen

Well I was shocked, I went back to Best Buy today and they had restocked with 4 more of the 50 pack Fuji's for $75. Well actully now there are only 2 left for others. They do seem to keep low stock of the higher quantity packs, but have plenty of the +r/+rw in smaller quantities. Maybe (and I'm just guessing here) they do not have as much demand at these local outlets for larger packs, and leave the bulk buyers to do there shopping online? Anyway if Best Buy ever gets their online store back up and running you will be able to reference there sale flyers and buy whatever you want online in the quantities you desire. I heard the first week of July of so.

JakeMC I live in SLC Utah and got my hands on the same deal...nice thing was...I actually picked up 2 (15)packs of 4x verbatim datalifes for the price of one ($36). Not bad. (I'm not sure if the 4x's were intended to be on sale or not but they let me out of the store;).

any one can message me or visit me in the inexpensive media page at the link below.
i have a dell/phillips d/28/ d/228 +r +rw 2.4x dvd combo player burner. i have been with it for about a year. i have used Many types of media with no errors. the bottom line is your hardware. like a car with no brakes should not go very fast a poorly built/maintained machine
will have special needs. if your computer is ok and your set top player is not ancient you have a world of media to choose from.
    i used ...imation/verbatim/tdk/optidisc/fuji/
    1x 2x 4x +r and +rw i have no problems

I'll put in my 2 cents:

    Burner - Sony DRX-500ULX (external)

Bad media - My first purchase was a 10-pack of Khypermedia DVD-R (for general) and EVERY STINKING ONE of them coastered. Stay away from the junk - I should have read up on it first and saved my $20.

Good - I've successfully used: Sony +RW, Memorex -RW ver 1.1, Fuji +RW, and Imation DVD-R ver 2.0

Well after a mear 400 disks I have to buy again and need input. I bought a 100 pack of Princo 4x disks and got an approx 80% good burn rate. This is acceptable for me but...
The Ritek aren't that much more expensive. My last batch was Ritek 2x in a 25 pack and they burned beautifully except that they all skipped at the outer edge of the disk. There was obvious melted plastic at the outer edges. This was a major problem, because most of the time I use DVD2ONE and totally fill the disk. Does anyone know if the Ritek 4X in bulk logo pack suffer from the same problem? I prefer to buy in lots of 1-200 disks to save money. The Princo will work, but the dye sucks. If I can buy Ritek 4X in bulk without the melted edges then the world will be a more beautiful place. Also I just bought the new Pioneer A06 burner and if anyone has experience with media on this drive please speak up.

Yes , totally agree DO NOT TOUCH BULKPAQ unless you want some coasters...

I've now got some x2 speed silver (not sure what brand or dye - special offer on bigpockets.co.uk) 59p each! they burn ok now on a pioneer 105 and play on a samsung s224 standalone. HOWEVER, not sure why but get a few hiccups with some discs especially around chapter changes, play ok on pc though.. As i say so far about 3 out of 14 discs.. May go for clone ritek g04 but for £1.50 inc post and packing for 50 a bit pricey and maybe better with the 59p ones if im only gettin a few hiccups? Although compatibility with other players is an issue with these (tried 4 players only 2 work) ANy thoughts as to what i should do? Is it worth another £1 a disc?

Samsung s224 standalone will pause at dual layer transition even with a copy :(

Has anyone tried Piodata 4x DVD-R disks? They claim to be OEM Pioneer disks manufactured by a Pioneer licensed OEM and meet or exceed Pioneer's quality standards. I have found them as low as USD $1.59 each in quantity 100. Is this for real or another marketing ripoff?

Can someone please tell me I Ritek 4x dvd disks have deformations or melt marks on the outer edges. BTW the PioData disks are not Pioneer quality. They suffer from that same melted-outer-edge problem.

The Ritek 4x I have seen, never bought don`t have the side marks. On the 2x that I have bought, I have never seen those marks either. Only on Princo and Optiodiscs have I seen those marks on the sides. On my last Optiodisc spindle, some of the discs aren`t cut correctly and just snap onto the head of my burner.
