Several months ago I downloaded the trial version of "CloneCD" and used it to copy several CDs with great success. I did this by using the "On The Fly" option with my two drives. The reader being a Mad Dog drive and the recorder an NEC. After the free trial was over I purchased a license key. However now when I try to copy a CD "On The Fly" I get this message at 3% of the burn: "Writing to CD failed, medium error: write error (3:0x0c:0x00)" I have cleaned the lenses on both drives. I have used several different brands of CDRs. Including "Taiyo Yuden." I can burn a CD with my NEC drive if I first put the music onto my hard drive and then use the burning software included with "Windows XP." This tells me there is nothing wrong with my NEC's burning capabilities. I can play a CD with the Mad Dog drive. So it reads the CDs all right. "CloneCD" worked great with my two drive before. I am hoping someone out there can help me to get this problem solved. My thanks to all of you in advance!
Have you tried unchecking the option 'on the fly' in CloneCD and see if that works? Check the back of the discs you are copying from for any dirt, scratches, smudges etc. Firmware on both drives up to date?
binkie7: I followed your advice and unclicked "On The Fly." Now it works like a charm. I sure feel stupid! Thank you very much for taking the time to help me out! Manny57
Nah no need to feel stupid - it's sometimes the little things that get us all! And you're welcome - glad to help
