Medium Error Message

    I have been an avid reader in these forums, so I think I am doing everything else correctly. My problem; about every other DVD I attempt to burn gives me an error message "The device reported an error" sense key + Medium error"

    I use a Mac, with plenty of ram, and no other programs running in the background. I use DVD backup to create the Video TS files, and DVD2oneX to compress the data size. Also I use Verbatim data life + 2X DVD-R's. The error message always occurs within the first 10 minutes of beggining the burn.

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

    What drive are you using?

    Try some other media. Perhaps Verbatims don't work with that particular drive.

    Welcome to the expensive world of hit and miss DVD burning!

    I have a similar issue. I have a g4 running osx 10.2.6 with a superdrive, pioneer 104. Tried generic maxell, apple branded dvd r and generic princo. I have never been successful at all. kept getting either media error, verification failed or hardware error. but it will burn fine with retailed maxell 2x dvd-r. can someone help?
