Memor 32 is a new device for the ps2, found it here http://www.techwizad.com it plays games through the memory card slot so there is no need to use any boots discs or swap magic. Apparently this is going to be the 'final solution for playing 'backups' directly through the pc.
So far the word is that to play backups you'll have to patch the ISO then (re)burn. Not sure where you heard you could play directly through the PC.
Its for games saves not backups > website, still looks very useful though better then having tons of memory cards
No, its not for games saves. Flash the BIOS on the memory card and it acts like a mod chip, allowing imports and copies to be played
I don't own one but many people on other boards have said it works, the games do have to be patched but once they are patched they will still work with Swap Magic so it's not like the patch is changing a large amount of data or anything. I remember hearing the patch system changes the disk so that the PS2 thinks it's a DVD Movie, then the hacked firmware on the Memor32 changes it on the fly back to a game while it's booting or something like that. Compatibility is not 100% yet, but from what I have read it is close to 100%. DL games work but only select ones with the current firmware. The USB cable used is the same one for the PSP, some stores include it whereas others don't. The reason the site doesn't mention anything about the hack is that the firmware you flash it with is supposedly produced by a "third-party" not affiliated with the group who make the Memor32. The problem with that logic is how was the hacked firmware released nearly the same day as the memory card? My main problem with it right now is the price, $70 just seems too steep for 32 MB memory card for a last gen system, even with the ability to boot backups.
yeah it works compatibility is an issue but its pretty good for more info here is the 'adjusted' firmware site, and you do have to patch every image
Yes it works fine for me also. The new firmware they are working on right now should be better. Yes you have to patch all ISO's and then they still work fine with Swap Magic also. The patcher is included with the firmware. So far all the games I have tried work with V1.1 firmware and all my elf files boot nicely off it. Still some things to work out no doubt, but I like it. I wrote a bit about it on my blog and yes you need a usb cable. I just used one of the ones I had for my DS-Extreme. It worked fine.
the thing i dont like is you have to patch every iso.i have over 500 backups. it would be insane to patch and reburn everyone.btw is there a way to copy the contents of this Memor 32 card to a origonal memory card ?
I agree, I am not reburning all of mine either, as it would be insane. But I have backed up and patched new ones. It would be nice if they did not need to be patched. I can't see any way of copying the contents of the memor32 to another mc and haven't heard of anyone being successful at it. I checked it out last month with uLaunch and I can't remember what I saw. Would have to look again. Well I copied all the files with uLaunch, but when the game should load, it just says "play halted due to malfunction" That is probably cause when the memor32 card is used the PS2 browser seems to think its a DVD Movie.
Is this something that needs to always stay plugged into the ps2? Has anyone tried to see if you can emulate NES and SNES games with this mod?
i have just brought a memor32 and backed up and patched a game but it wont play because of a region issue can any one help and i was given some backed up cops of games how do i reburn and patch when ther is no iso on the disc only new to this so be kind
1. Get DVD Decrypter (very good FREE software for burning ISOs) 2. Put in your game you want make an ISO out of 3. Open up DVD Decrypter, from the top menus go to; Mode > ISO > write 4. Name and select a file destination for your ISO 5. Begin ripping 6. Patch your new ISO 7. Insert quality media DVDs and burn ISO
I'm very pleased with the recent Australian firmware so far. I got this working on a PS2 Slim I bought for $50. Here is my experience with game compatibility: Australian PS2 Slim using Memor32 hack firmware 1.1, and patching with 0.9e Memento Disc Patcher. all games are Australian PAL backups using Verbatim 16x DVD-Rs, DVD Decrypter writing at 8x . Kingdom Hearts = Takes about a minute to boot but other than that plays perfectly .............. YES Metal Gear Solid 3 Subsistence Disk 1 = Runs perfectly, quick to boot...............YES Okami = Runs perfectly, reasonably quick to boot...............YES Forbidden Siren 2 = Strange screen problems, crashes at the start of the game.............. NO Final Fantasy 12 = Does not boot, or may take longer than 5 minutes...............NO
i have some already backed up games how do i patch with memento patch new copy's of origanal games working fine
