Both Future Shop and Best Buy in Canada have had Memorex media on sale. I have discovered media differences in the boxes and a way to determine the media manufacturerwithout opening the boxes. The media can be either CMC MAG F01 which burns at 2.4X or RICOHJPNR01 which burns at 4X.
On the back of the packaging either in singles, 5 pack or 10 pack on the bottom left corner there is a product code. The product code is the almost the same for either media in any packaging except the CMC media has an extra letter 'R' - ie the 5 pack Ricoh has a product code of 5395 5989 and the CMC is 5395 5989R. I have been able to correctly pick the Ricoh media 10 out 10 with this identifier.
I thought I should share this discovery
    I hope it helps

    Supersleuth!

The RICOHJPNR01's have worked well in my PX-708A at 8X.

Can you tell me if this Memorex +R media works with the Plextor PX-708A (my dvd burner)? I live in the US so I am looking for good DVD +R & DVDRW's here.
    Thanks in advance.

tally 7, the Ricohs will work @8X as I previously stated but I wouldn't hold much hope for the CMC's working well at any speed.

Your best bet is to order some Ritek discs online so you know exactly what you're getting.

I just bought a spindle of 50 Ritek RiData (Ricoh) 4X +R's for $52 with free shipping from newegg which is an outstanding outfit. These discs work wonderfully in my PX-708A. Here's a link:

Nephilim, thanks for your suggestion. There are many choices and I am trying to avoid the bad ones.

The Memorex +R media is usually Ricoh. The -R is the CMC-Mag which are the ones to stay away from. Haven't run into any bad +R Memorex yet from any other manufacturer.

I just purchased from Newegg a spindle of 50 Ritek RiData (Ricoh) 4X DVD+R's for $52 with free shipping. I'm new to DVD Burning so this will give me plenty disk to experiment with. My software is NERO 6 Ultra and DVDXcopy Platinum.

Again, thanks all for your help.

    Hi Jerry 746
You are right that Memorex is normally Ricoh (RICOHJPNR01) However on my last purchase at both Best Buy and Future Shop some of the discs were CMC (CMC MAG F01). That was the reason for my post was to give a heads up on Memorex +R media. I think they are replacing the Ricoh with CMC. The packaging looks very similar with minor changes. I am not planning to purchase to many more Memorex +R if this is the case
    Thanks

You never know what you get when one company buys product from someone else and puts there name on it. I buy strictly Ritek and never had a problem since doing so.
Later guys. I'm fighting a couple of worms that somehow got in. Glad they are the easy ones to kill.
