I just recently bought memorex cd-rw media and I got so many errors! I have learned that they are just pure trash, I can not format any of them, having the error message "format failure due to general failure", I tried all software that is the market(nero 5.X, easy cd creator 5.0,hpdla) and same thing. Im really frustated because i need to backup important files stored in my hd. Ill try a brand name and see the results.
What speed is the CD-RW media certified to? What is the fastest speed your drive supports? You don't need to format them. Burn them as regular ISO data discs - you get more available capacity on the disc (but you will not be able to use the disc "like a floppy".).
I have had trouble with Memorex CD-RW's too. I usually can't burn anything onto them, and when I am actually successful, I can't erase them! I have tried Verbatim disks and they work fine.
Memorex does not make the greatest quality media. Same with Imation. Try using Fuji, Verbatim, etc. - they are better.
I bought box of ten Memorex CD-RW 700MB/80Min at the last moment and had to trash 5 of them It seems I am not alone in having problems with Memorex.
I have never used tthe Memorex CD-rw, but I have went thru 2 - 30 packs of 48X(700mb / 80min) CD-Rs and haven't had any problems with them yet.
Lucky you... however it seems that their more recent CDRs are more reliable than previous iterations. Their CDRWs however have a dismal record. Mac71, perhaps you could provide the ATIP for those ever so lucky CDRs?
