I want to know if this is compatible with my motherboard. http://www.newegg.com/Product/CustR...82E16820161678&SortField=0&Pagesize=100&Page= Go to this site 4 my pc specifications http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN&cc=us&docname=c00056948
The site you gave for you Pc shows that your board should accept the ram however I would not recomend mixing a 512 stick with a 1gb stick systen instability could occur
If we follow the specifcations on the Compaq Web page it saids only up to 1gb ram is allowed, I dont for sure know if your board has some limitations on the amount of ram it can hold, But I will not my risk my self by doing that, instead Ill buy another stick of DDR 333 of 512mb, maybe if you buy the gig It will work, but maybe it wont, so to be sure go with 512mb ddr 333 stick for a total of 1gig ram, which can be enough until you buy a new PC
If you follow the link further you will find the actual board specs here http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN&cc=us&docname=c00063254 where it shows Two 184-pin DDR DIMM Maximum memory size is up to 2GB, 1GB per slot recommended (the PC manufacturer's recommended maximum memory may differ) Supports PC2700/PC2100/PC1600 Unbuffered non-ECC so unless compaq has altered the bios (which I doubt) I would expect it to work but I still would not mix 512 and 1gb sticks
Im srry, at philraz said dont mix different stick sizes get, some equal (512mb) sticks, I will stick with 1gig to be sure it works, still I think there is a possibility that compaq has altered the bios, so to be safe add some equal 512mb stick.
