I apologise for this absolute newbie question but I have noticed my free memory space on the hard drive has been going down each time I add and then delete any games I install.I am very new at computers(nearly 50 and just been introduced)but logic tells me that each game probably leaves something behind and it is just a matter of finding whereabout on the box it is and deleting it.I started with about 5500 free memory which has now gone dowm to 4400.Could anybody give this "oldie" newbie some advice? It is a evolutionx modded xbox. Thanks in advance.

I'm going to assume that it's the E drive that is getting smaller.
if that is the case, it's probably just the fact that you're saving games and that takes up space.
when you copy a game to the hard drive, it usually goes into either the E or F drive under the GAMES folder.
    example,
I put all games under F/GAMES. so if I copy burnout either from FTP or from disk I put it into F/GAMES/Burnout
to remove the game all I have to do is delete the burnout folder.
that removes all traces of the game except for saves which I would probably want to keep.

does that clear things up a bit for you?

    Merry Xmas

    Hi jombie
I gave that a go and deleted all known saves I could find but unfortunately it made no impression on the memory space.
Interestingly the last game I tried to instal on the hd,although I had 4700 free space would not instal even though the game was only 3100.I assumed the game was dirty or broke etc and just deleted it again. However after deleting I was left with only 4400 space and not the original 4700.It has totally baffled me.Any ideas?

you've got me stumped, that goes against everything I've noticed with my xbox.
unless your drive is on the way out, and is somehow reporting the wrong free space, but that's highly unlikely.

some of the other guys and gals on here seem to be a lot smarter than me when it comes to this so maybe one of them can help you out.

your box is chipped, so you could use the slayer disk to completely start from scratch to see what you have for free space. then test out exactly how much you lose when copying then deleting a game.
