hi guys i have 512mb memory right now, and i wanna buy 1gb more (just 1 card, not 2x512) so i wanna ask can i have 1.5gb ram with athlon 64 2800+, with my agp motherboard. is too much or something like that or it doesnt matter. thank u
Depends on the mobo David. Look inside and see how many slots you have. If you have 3, you should be able to do at 3 sticks of 512. If it's a more modern computer, each slot SHOULD be able to take a gig, but...w/o knowing your motherboard manufacturer, we can't be sure.
thanx for the reply TomMelee. i have only 2 slots for ram one is full with 512 i cant say my motherboard manufacture, coz in other forum somebody recommended me a program - sissoftware sandra that can tell my motherboard manufacture but there it says mps version: 1.40 model: K8T800-8237 and doesnt say manufacture and plus i cant find model & manufacture on the motherboard itself so is there any chance u know how to find out plz thanks
Uhm...does it look like this: http://www.ocworkbench.com/ocwbcgi/newspro/viewnews.cgi?newsid1065020525,22436, or this: http://www.cska.cz/detail.php?id=00001B5B&cat=10 any of these: http://www.albatron.com.tw/english/service/mb_list.asp?keywords=30 Often the manufacturer is listed between the PCI slots. It's likely that each slot can hold a gig, but I wouldn't guarantee it. I would guarantee that each slot can hold 512, which I guess is obvious, because you've already got a 512 in there.
Well Tom, I'm willing to put my money on your guess, that the motherboard is a 2GIG'r, but without knowing the actual model, like you said...it could also be possible that the two slots max out at 4. Highly unlikely...but possible. Most of the mobo's I've seen released in the past two years with two mem slots will max out at least 2Gs. If SiSoft is having a hard time finding the motherboard manufacturer, there are two other methods I've used: CPU-Z, and BIOS Agent. http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php http://www.unicore.com/biosagent/ If you try BIOS Agent, it's the OEM Signon section you want to get your info from. For some reason, that program has never been able to detect any correct information about max memory settings, or max cpu speeds.
thanks for replys both of u guys TomMelee my motherboard is agp and it looks quite similiar to the first link Morph416, thanks fo the links cpuz didnt recognize my manufacture but bios OEM: SK8T800 09/08/2004 and like u said it is not showing max memory size coz it sais 8192mb so is SK8T800 my motherboard and can i finally buy 1gb memory thank u
oh i found my exact motherboard http://www.cluboverclocker.com/reviews/motherboards/chaintech/sk8t800/ it says Memory 2 x DDR Sockets: DDR200/266/333/400 NON-ECC DDR SDRAM up to 2GB so i guess i can buy the memory thank u guys fo help i appreciate it
