merge 2 divX files

I need to merge 2 divX movie files. I did it using VirtualDub and it seemed to work fine (played well on my comp) but when I tried to play it on the standalone, the audio was gone. I checked on g_spot and found the audio bitrate was increased almost 10x (went from 164kb/s to 1536kb/s). is this a problem, if so how do i fix it?
