I am backing up Goodfellas, which is a 2-sided DVD. I would like to put it on 1 DVD5 disc. I read a topic/guide about merging Flipper with DVD Remake, but I cannot figure out how to do it for Goodfellas.

I figured out how to get all working original menus when re-authoring with DVD Maestro (after many hours), but it seems like it would be much easier to do it with DVD Remake. I gave it a try and I keep on getting a "Failed to get chapters" warning when I test it with IFOEdit. The Flipper guide is good, but since I have no experience with Remake, I cannot apply it to other movies.

I think that my DVD Maestro version will work, but I tested the .m2v file and it is screwed up when playing in Media Player classic, but it looks good in Maestro. Also, there are about 30 menus and there is a good chance that I screwed something up in the navigation or the links. Another thing is that parts of the menus are outside of the overscan safezone.

My goal is to have the movie on 1 disc, but only retain the menus from disc 1 (since they are both the same), but add the chapter select menu from disc 2 and link to it from the chapter select menu in disc1. Any help with DVD remake or a link to a general guide for combining 2-sided discs would be appreciated.

I have still had no luck with DVD Remake. I decided to just burn what I put together in Maestro. The movie works great, but the menus compiled wrong (they all work fine in Maestro, but not when compiked and burned to DVD). Maybe 30 menus is a bit too much and the program made some compilation errors. It is very strange, because the main menu looks great, but when I click on Chapter Select, it goes to the "cast" menu, but when I click the cast names, it takes me to the chapter points. Some of the other links do not work and just freeze, although they all worked the first time I put the DVD in.

I am still curious about the DVD Remake. I do not have many dual sided DVDs, but on the rare occassion that I will back one up, I would like to try it with that one.
