Please someone help me with this . Im trying to merge some movies ,however I dont know how thier encoded . None of the mpeg mergers Ive tried will work . They all say the movies are not mpeg . However they show as mpeg when I right click and check properties . I can convert them with virtualdub or tempgenc but I have alot and it would take forever. It would be much easier to convert them after they are joined . So I gues the question is . How do I find out how they are encoded now . And is there a merging program that will merge file no matter what they are as long as they are all the same type . Thanks
Thanks for the link , however I already tried dv tool . when I try to combine files dv tool says it did the job but wind media player only plays the first piece ? The same happens with another program I tried
Have you considered the option that the file is actually broken? This happens a lot with clips you download from P2P networks, etc.
I have about 15-20 clips which is acvtually 5 complett movies . I tried joining different ones and even re downloaded them . I did notice that dv tool does actually combine tham . By this I mean i combine several small pieces each measuring some small amount of kb and when combined the new file created is 100 m b !!! but .. wind media player still only plays the first short piece ?????
I have the same problem with DV-Tool and merging mpegs. I can merge them with TMPGEnc, well most of the time. I tried DV-Tool because I was getting a stream read error on TMPGEnc for one group. But, when I tried it, the end file is 237MB but it only plays the first section of the combined file.
Try using Jfuse. I'm not sure if it will do exactly what you want, but there is a free trial that allows 5 file merges, so it can't hurt to check it out. http://www.jfuse.com
