Lately in the span of the last few days this message opos up before windows is displayed. the message is " load needed dll's for kernal" before windows is operated consult server. after rebooted it then windows xp is engaged. what gives and do I have to download anything from windows. I have a dell 2250 cpu with windows xp sp2. please help? thanks
Something is wrong with your windows installation.....To fix it you need to use the Repair feature on your XP disk...Or if you have a repair disk
Do you have an autoexec.bat or config.sys in the C:\ drive? If so rename them to autoexec.bat.ren and config.sys.ren and see if the error goes away. Both of these files are processed before the main gui starts.
I will give the repair disc a shot. I do have thw windows xp start up disk to help me. thanks any more ideas will help Is this a continuing problem that I should watch out for
@chewbkka, Thats a serious system error, you need to reinstall XP to fix that. *Tap delete as your comp boots and enable boot from CD. *Place yout OS instalation disk in the disk drive. *Hit escape to exit. *Your CD should be booted, select a reinstalation of XP and follow the prompts, a simple repair won't fix it, I'm sorry to say, allways remeber the importance of backup! (Ussualy files in "My Documents" are not over written)
I downloaded that ccleaner from your website and it analyze and fixed all the registry faults and other things. did this repair my problrm or do I have go through the os disc. so far the error hasn't not occur. what do you think?
All Ccleaner's issue scanner does is scan the registry for intergreity and removes all invalid entries, it doesnt "fix" the registry. Read here: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;812450 You have to do a "In place upgrade" of XP, all you need to know is in the above link, if you need any help just ask
Personally I am not a big fan of Ccleaner, or any other tool that "cleans" the registry for that matter. It is possible, though, that CCleaner did do something that fixed the problem. Ccleaner does look for certain "registry issues" in its issues tab that may have fixed the error such as shared dlls, class issues, etc etc. Agreed a reinstall may be the better solution if you have the time and energy, but may not actually be required if the error goes away and the system is stable.
If the error goes away and the systems stable then leave it as it is, no need for a reinstall if thats the case. If your getting that particular error then reinstall XP, search your error in google, they all say the same thing. As for Ccleaner solving it someway somehow, gotta say after reading about the error I doubt that, read more about the error here: http://www.smartcomputing.com/techsupport/detail.aspx?guid=&ErrorID=21429 Good luck and tell us what you decide to do chewbkka
The error came back today for the first time in a week. ok Do I have back up all my files if I do a re install the windows os disc. I remember on the disc a repair format. can I do a system restore point? I am a little apprehensive about this since last year at this time my system crashed a few times and had to do three system re installs b4 it was right. thanks for the help?
If you do a clean reinstall, I'd back up my precious files, if you don't want to you dont have to, its just for the best as they will be wiped after the reinstalation. You can set a restore point before you actually go and reinstall the OS but after you've freshly reinstalled the restore point will be wiped, so theres no point of doing that. Just have your Windows XP Instalation CD ready, its very likely it came with your comp, follow the instructions in my first post. EDIT: Sorry forgot to say, if Dell did'nt give you a CD you can easilly create one: http://support.dell.com/support/top...rt/dsn/en/document?c=us&l=en&s=gen&dn=1091713 That is if you can get the comp to boot.
