Metal Gear Solid is majorly overrated!! (in my oppinion)

Whenever ppl talk about the ps3 then mention solid snake and MGS4. There is nothing special about the MGS series. substandard gameplay, good story but substandard characters. People say that zelda, mario, halo and fable are overrated but not nearly as much as MGS.
Having said that let me remind you that this is my oppinion and i only want to see if ppl agree with me. I am not trying to start a flame war, (moderator ok) For me story is very important and metal gear while good and new just did not have enough depth, that being said neither does mario or zelda. I like all the hidden meanings in halo and things like that. I think all of the historical references are interesting and show intense story development and planning.

mgs is one of the greatest games ever made!!! the stories are always incredible and the game play is always excellent.
I'll give u an overrated game HALO!! there is nothing special about it the story sucks gameplay is typical run and gun. and online SUX!
it is like serious sam but not as fun and has a bigger budget.

when people play halo they expect a game to have loads of extras, like gadgets and other shit like in ghost recon or mgs, well it was not made for that, halo was made for absolute fun in mind (like tetris, simple but extremely fun) simple controls and some good weapons have resulted in halo and halo 2 becoming massive games, halo for the single player and halo 2 for the online experience, whcih i personally loved, not b/c i played it once a week and thought ahh its crap, but b/c i played it all the time, got really good at it and just had fun. i mean when i got conker live and reloaded, i hated it so much, but i though i might aswell play it a little before returning it, then fell in love with it, hehe. its about seeing the game for what it is not what other people say it is, or b/c its on a certain console or b/c the story line is crap. its about the gaimg.

 

halo makes my brain turn to mush. and a story goes with a game it is important like the ff series is like a great movie.

no halo2 is just to simple. i smoke to try and enhance the xperience but even that doesn't work. it only helps tuning out the little 10 year old brats online

 

personally I never got into metal gear, but my friend loves MGS and it looked fun to me.

 

did i ever say that halo was the greatest? No i did not so do not put words into my mouth. I simply stated that i prefer the complexity of the halo story which transends the game world into historical and religious referances to that of the MG series.

Personally i have always been a Mercenaries and splinter cell fan which is multi console but MGS did not tweak my fancy, so dont let me hear you calling me a microsoft fan boy.

However when it does come to music i think that halo takes the cake, the rest of the game is much like other fps. If only they had put as much time into innivative game play as they did into their music!

With the large MGS 4 clip i was also disappointed by the lack of in game footage. It is obvious that the game experience will be much different. Also i find it a bit too japanese for my liking. I have never liked that anime ultra samurai thing that the guy had going in the final part of the clip.

 

OMG how you could say that MGS is overrated??? Tomfitz have you ever played MGS and which one did you play? i think i mite know why you saying this.

 

How could you like Mercenaries a game that is not deep dont even come close to useing any thought.Splinter Cell yes that is a very good series.

 

Metal gear solid umm not so good in my opinon. Its a great stealth game and thats about all it did for me then i was like blah.the whole liquid snake,solid snake and the list of terribly goofy characters ruined it for me.Its a game that strives to achieve realism and does in gameplay somewhat but has that ruined by a corny plot.Zelda,mario and all those games are meant to be fantasy so its not dissapointing when their plots are a little fantasy like.I cant not deny that for me it persoannly its seemed to be a huge trend setter as far as stealth games but then again im sheltered from those types cause i find them repetative.

 

how could u tell me hiding in alocker and seeing the gaurds pass then knock on the locker and see them go huggg?? or hiding in a box? or putting a porno magasine on the steps to distract the gaurds it's brilliant

 

thats why i said it was innovative it just got old,plus i think top terrorists of the world would notice the sneaking box with the duschebag under it.Or have some sort of decent securty measures i mean come on the game is striving for realism and has Snake getting under a box and scooting around.the game is an extremly unique first play,i was blown away with alot of the little things and gameplay overall at first.But then came part 2,3 and now 4 its just old news. And the character names oh the names please save me someone!!!solid snake,liquid snake,raiden(mortal kombat wannabe)octagon or whatever that guys name was and the list is incredibly long of names that make it oh so hard to take ne of it serious

 

cmon the names are codes they're not meant to be real also liquid and solid snake are brothers that's why their names r the same. the box is fun it adds another demension of stealth.

 

I know thats not their real names thats obvious but the names nonetheless are horrible ones.The box idea is cool for a good ole game of hide and seek but not a game thats trying to emulate a stealth war game.

 

the box is a classic u can't take that away and mgs really isint a stealth simulator thats why they got all the easter eggs if u wanna simulator splinter cell is for u which (in my opinion) is not as fun.

Still, that was the only MGS game listed, so the others could be much better. Perhaps you should specify the game, tomfitz.
