Micro ATX

    Hello, I don't know anything about computers and want to upgrade my graphics card to Radeon 9600 pro or Radeon 9800 Se. I need to get a new power supply but my computer is a sony vaio and it is micro atx. Can I buy a normal ATX power supply and will it fit into a micro ATX? Also when buying power supply is there anything i should look for besides more then 300 watts? THanks you :) !

    write down the physical dimensions of the power supply & with a tape measurego to your local computer stores to see if they have 1 that will fit your case. the standard psu measures 15cm(5.875")w x 8.5cm(3.375")h x 14cm(5.5")d

    alright thanks alot. also would it matter if i buy a power supply for 20 usd? my current is 250 watt and i need better for radeon card.

    i would go for atleast a 350w power supply or better, their not that expensive, and it doesnt hurt to go over

    thanks also will a radeon 9600 or 9800 work good on agp 4x?

    depends on the voltage of the agp slot & what the video card can handle volts wise

    the 9600 will work fine...can't vouch for the 9800, though.

    alright thanks but i dont even know if i have an agp 8x slot LOL ):! I have a Asus P4S266-VX MOBO.

    9600 works with 4x or 8x. your bios should tell you which you have.

    ddp is Asus P4S266-VX MOBO i read it was specially amde for sony vaios only or something.

    i've heard the 9800 se can be overclocked very easily; so if you can stick it in there, go for it! XD

    doesn't help with the topic on hand, but from looking at your stuff i'm more than confident you have an 8x AGP setup :)

    yeah, i have an HP mobo that they don't list, either. can you find a comparable model?
