My 360 is 15 months old, the drive is flashed to play my backups
It died on me this week and now has the RROD.
Microsoft told me to send it back and have logged it in for repair
They will fix free of charge under the new 3 years guarantee.
Would they find out it’s flashed if I just sent it back to them?
Could I flash the drive back to the original F/W
Even though it boots in the 3 red lights?

haven't been in the situation myself (yet) but ive heard a number of people saying they've sent back modded consoles and had nothing said to them. Not sure if that would be luck or the fact that they don't check.

if mine RROD's il just be sending it back as it is i think.

I think you can flash back even if it has RROD. Not sure on that though so wait for more peoples feedback :) ... because i suppose its the mobo, gpu and what not... so long as the drive has got power and them obo has read/write to the drive it should be okay. If you really wanted to flash and not use the 360 power you could get one of the team xecuter gadgets. that way you wouldn't even need to switch on the 360. Just rip the drive out and hook up to the computer (i think) lol

hope this helps.. and please not i could well be wrong :)

    peace

but ive heard if they get it back and the warranty sticker is gone, they wont fix it. they will send it back telling you that you have to pay to get it fixed.

right, i was just assuming that that he had the warranty sticker still intact and on the console. but if the OP doesnt, then all he has to do is buy one off of ebay and put it on.

you might get a new liteon drive back. i've read of people sending their boxes in to get a different box or drive back.

with the new 1.5 coming out though, you don't have much to worry about.

he will most definitely get a new xbox back with the lite-on drive. but as you said, it shouldnt really matter with the new FW coming out in a week. but he will wither have to do some soldering on the drive, or buy the tools to read the key from it.

Yes you can still flash it although you wouldn't be able to test it until the RROD situation was resolved. But I wouldn't bother with that. Just send it back in.

Thanks for your comments, I think I will take a chance and just send it in as is.
If Microsoft tells me they won’t fix due to flash, I will try the
    x-clamp fix.
And if that won’t work I will sell on eBay,
Purchase an Arcade console they have the HDMI and the Falcon chip.

Some Good news for me today 05/01/09
Had a brand new console from Microsoft Europe
Console was send back to Microsoft on 22/12/08
Console had the i-xtreme 1.4 flashed to DVD-Rom
I still got a new replacement MFR date 2008/11/02

    A Happy New Year

It’s not a Jasper mobo, it hasn’t got the HDMI
it's a brand new console just an older mobo in side still the 90 NM CPU - GPU
