I got a new Acer laptop. It did not provide the XP Home Edition CD but, instead it installs the XP Home Edition OS from the hard drive which has the installation files in-built(i guess). After I installed XP, i realized that micosoft office hadn't been installed. So do i have to buy Office separaely or s there any way to install it like i installed XP Home Edition??? Thanx.
You have to buy the Office CD and for the OS issue try to copy the OS files on to CD or DVD for later installations.
there should be a program installed that can make recovey disks and erase the defualt recory partion on ya hardrive. at least thats what i have!
As far as Office goes... You should just get OpenOffice.. it's free and it does everything that Microsucks does.... and all the files from OpenOffice are Microsuck compatible... So tell Bill he has enough money. just make sure go to openoffice.org ( I test searched "open office" and some of the results were not right... didn't want you getting the wrong thing and thinking wtf? lol
Is this a re-install or first run install? if A Re-install was Office installed from factory or added at a later date? It would not be included on an OS disk anyway. Do you have any other installation disks at all with supplementary programs/drivers on, that may be hiding an Office install folder? Worth checking as a fujitsu PC I bought for my mother had it hidden on a seperate disk. Is there any mention of software included in any of the laptops documentation. If it doesn't mention Office, it isn't supplied and you will have to buy it as suggested above. Open office is a great alternative as also suggested above.
