Anyone know how to fix an Xbox that has the "Your Xbox needs service please contact Microsoft" screen? It also shows fragging. Thanks

Well it would help if you could report what was causing that Error. i.e. the Number that's @ the top left of your TV Screen. It could be as simple as reinstaling your Dashboard. Or a loose connection somewhere, It could also point to a major Hardware Failure. Without the Code it's kinda hard to give you any real answers...

It shows no code. I have looked at all of the connections and everything seems good. Thanks

But you get the "Please call the Support" Screen? at the top left of that Screen there will be a Number from "00" to "21". Depending what that Number is, it will detrimine what the overall problem is.

It's not likely that you can get to that Screen and not know the reasion why. If you still can't locate this Error message At the top left of your TV Screen! Then I guess you should call Microsoft and try getting an RMA Number to get your XBOX™ fixed...

I swear it doesn't show it. I can set it up so that i could get a capture of the screen if you want to see. Well sounds like this one is going to hit the back shelf till I get a new one. Maybe I can use it to practice a mod.

You should be seeing a Screen that looks something like this:

As you can see the Error Reported above is "Error 07"

    Error 07: HDD timeout

Most of the times, the IDE cable is not properly connected when you see this error. Please reattach the ide cable. Not only to the HDD but also to the DVD-ROM Drive, aswell. Also try to reconnect the IDE Cable to the Motherboard.

Press pretty hard so it goes all the way in. Make sure it is seated straight and proper in the Drives and the Motherboard. If you still have an Error 7. Try another IDE Cable. If that won't work try another HDD. If it still doesn't work, make sure the Jumper on the rearside of the HDD. Set it to either the Master or Cable Select, setting.

This is an example of what these "Error Codes" are good for...

I have had both drives out after this screen came up and checked and rechecked it for bad conectors or burnt components.
