The Win10 copy will come on a cheap thumb drive. When you get it make a backup. When my SSD main drive failed(lightning strike, surge protector didn't protect it) after 7 years of use, I grabbed another disk I had and tried to reinstall but the the drive sent by MS was unusable. I had to grab my laptop, download a copy of Win10, make a bootable thumb drive, and then install. A complete pain in the......!

 

A Strike Protector is a surge protector, and mine worked well for everything but my Solid State Drive which was wiped. Because of the type of storage SSD drives are susceptible to even small surges. None of the platter drives were harmed by the strike. I live in Florida which is the lighting strike capital of the U.S.

Think of it as the Domino Effect. ddp posts a link on Windows 11 reinstallation. I ask him if he's ready to move to Windows 11. He says no, but that he might consider Windows 10. I respond to that with a caution about Windows 10 dongles failing, and then described my experience with it failing for me when a lightning strike destroyed my SSD drive and how my surge protector failed to protect it. ddp then suggested that "for lightning strike protection, you want a spike protector not surge protector." I replied that a lightning strike protector is a surge protector. Then I mentioned I live in Florida which is the lightning strike capital of North America. Then ps355528 mentions Florida?.. So you see it's like a chain with each link connected to the previous or the Domino Effect. Now all we have to do is wait for ddp to tell us that he built a rig and installed Windows 11, on it. then ps355528 will bestow the benefits of Linux, and a new direction will flow out of it. Use mental quotes.
