    Hi,
Has anyone ever tried a mini DVD? Do they work in regular DVD's? Mini DVD-R or Mini DVD-RW. I was thinking of using these as a sort of business card that I can put some of my media stories on.

Oh, by the way I got an awesome deal on Memorex DVD+RW for only $19.99 I have never found a better price ever so wanted to pass it on. Oh... at eMemorex.com... oh they are 4X too.

    Thanks,
    Rachel

Hi Rachel, welcome to our Club :D)

Yes, but you sure are restricted in size. Don't know the size of your "Stories" - they sure must be small - Good luck -

    FYI,

Memorex as an example, has posted figures as high as 40% coasters when used for DVD backups, not what I would call an impressive record -
    1. Cheap media skips, freezes, fuzzes, pixelats, refuses to be recognized, partially jams and of course, our good old standby, either doesn’t burn or doesn’t play at all :-(

Cheap media is great for text, Data, Spreadsheets, .Jpg and .Gif pictures and is good even for MP3 music BUT for DVD backups - BLAaaaaaT! It SUCKTH in an extremely Big-th way !

    2. A top grade media is needed for DVD reproduction !
Ritek G04's or Verbatim are what we’re looking for OR any media boasting “Advanced AZO Metal Dye”, this indicates a superior dye application, while they are a bit “pricey” they are acceptable.

Prices online from Meritline.com have gotten Ritek G04 to down below a dollar a disc -
Question - If you make coasters out of 3 cheap discs and good copies from 3 Verbatim discs or 3 Ritek G04 discs - which ones then are too expensive ?

Remember, Memorex, Fuji, TDK, Orange Pack and others are good for your MP3 music, picture archives, Spread sheets, Data and your text backups and archives, they just don’t work well for DVD backups.

scuba I have to say I'm not going to question the 40 % coaster rate with memorex but the ONLY coaster that I have had using memorex was last night when I tried to burn using shrink and decripter. I have made several good burns with memorex while using xcopy express.maybe some media works better with simple softwear than others. I'm using a TDK 840 external
burner. Just my 2 cents :)

The 40% should have been written 50% -

(One member bought a stack of 50 and got 23 good burns.), not what I would call an impressive record.
Remember, it’s a gamble, some people win, most lose, varying amounts but they still lose :-(

I hear U scuba. On a personal level thanks for all of your wisdom and input it has been very helpful to myself and I'm sure others.
After reading some other post where people take it personaly It's good to see that we can disagree without being disagreeable. Thanks again and I look forward to gaining more knowledge from U and others.
