I'm trying to backup my Return Of the King 4 disc box set. However, the video title (volume label)is like 18 characters long & the last 2 are which disk (D2,D3,D4). I'm using DVD Decrypter and copying it to my hard drive. The title is full length. Then I use Nero 6 Ultra's Recode to get it down to single layer DVD. But when I do the title gets truncated to 15 characters and I lose the disc number, no D2 etc. Is this typical? I have not noticed this before. My Nero version is 6.6.1.4, didn't really notice if it did the same thing in previous update. I do have other movies that had long titles that showed them all but I may have used Intervideo's DVD Copy Express to burn them. Any help is much appreciated.
Yes, I've seen that while reading lots of other posts. So while I was waiting for an answer I reverted back to 6.6.0.18 It didn't make any difference. I also used killaspi to get rid of ASPI 4.71, no difference. Then I used ForceASPI to install 4.6 succesfully, needed it to run DVD Copy Express. With Nero Recode I've tried checking or unchecking of "Relax DVD-Video specification..." With it unchecked when I import from hard drive it shows the full video title in the contents side of the window. With it checked, it doesn't. But either way when I actually go ahead and burn it,it shows truncated title. When I use DVD Copy Express it takes what I type in for the name, whether I use spaces or _ capital letters or a mix and however long I need to make it. Very strange. Just wondering if this is something I'm not configuring right in Windows or Nero. Before all this I had to unistall my secondary IDE Controller because my DVD drives wouldn't recognize any disks (CD or DVD) after I had had a system lockup. Even then neither would recognize a DVD until after I had inserted a CD first, after that first time they seemed to have no trouble.
Sorry it took so long to get back on but I've been having Thunderstorms with tornado warnings here. Hadn't saved a log before so I reburned disk 3 and saved log. I've been using RW's for my experiments but it turns out the same on R's. And before anyone says anything, yes I know MemorSUXS. But I use Verbatim for my DVD+R backups of my movies. Here's the log file. ********** Nero Recode 2 ********** Version: 2.2.6.17 Project type: Copy entire DVD Target size: Custom (2201600) 23:46:40 File LangStreamPatcher.cpp, Line 56 Command table patching started... 23:46:40 File LangStreamPatcher.cpp, Line 101 VTS 1 - VTSM_PGCI_UT - LU 1 - PGC 3 patched! 23:46:40 File LangStreamPatcher.cpp, Line 101 VTS 2 - VTSM_PGCI_UT - LU 1 - PGC 5 patched! 23:46:40 File LangStreamPatcher.cpp, Line 101 VTS 2 - VTSM_PGCI_UT - LU 1 - PGC 6 patched! 23:46:40 File LangStreamPatcher.cpp, Line 133 All tables successfully patched! The only thing I can see is this... Recude your target size to 4300, you are too close to the edge of the disc. EDIT: Are you actually having a problem burning, or playing back, or is the title just not showing up how you'd like it?
Just unhappy with the 15 character limit I have with the title. My discs usually burn just fine and play well. I had some problems with discs where I had added paper labels. They looked great and played great just after I made them but as time went on they started to skip or lock up. I ran Nero CD-DVD Speed on them doing a scandisk and had several spots that were red indicating bad. I soaked one in warm soapy water to remove the label. After it was rinsed and dried I scanned it again and it was fine, all green. I had started scanning whatever I burned a couple of months ago because I started noticing problems with playback on some discs. The only thing I use is the Discinfo and Scandisc read test. The C1/C2 PI/PO test almost always gives me some yellow even though the read test is all green. I really don't understand how to interpret the rest of the tests. It's kind of like organic chemistry was to me - it looks pretty and logical at first but somehow I lacked the grasp of just how it really works, the rules are the rules except when they aren't the rules, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't, the chemicals had to combine this way except the next time you use similar compounds they don't combine the same way. There seems to be some magic mixed in there somewhere to explain the capriciousness of it all, there's always a "yes, but ..." lurking somewhere. Anyway, I rambled. Sorry. Bottom line is why can I make the title be more than 15 characters with DVD Copy Express and DVD Decrypter and not with Nero? I love that with Nero it is easy to take recorded TV and put it to DVD, or copy CD/DVD, etc all from one place with out a whole lot of intermediate steps. I can take dvrms files and turn them into a DVD without having to take separate steps to convert them to mpg and shrink them to fit. I would like Nero to let me give a full descriptive title to such a DVD - "24 Season 5 1100 to 1500" for instance. Any insight is appreciated.
