Ok my problem is that I'm trying to burn .avi files to DVDs using Nero Vision and there is no sound in either the preview or the finished DVD. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling and have already updated to the newest version of klite codec pack. The funny thing is that the files play fine in Nero ShowTime, but not with NeroVision. I'm stumped, anyone have a solution?
Okay I think I have narrowed the problem down to the file, rather than NeroVision itself, even though the file plays just fine. When I open the file with VirtualDub, it gives me the following message: "Truncated or invalid MP3 audio format detected (16 bytes should be 30)." Any ideas on what to do with it? I have the codecs that G-Spot says I need (MPEG-1 Layer 3 for audio and DX50 for video), and like I said the video plays and sounds fine, it just won't have audio in or after NeroVision burns it to a DVD.
you need virtualdub_mp3_VBR_freeze for mp3 i think, normal v dub has probs... as to your audio its an odd one? you say file plays fine in showtime (avi or dvd????) before you burn it to dvd, play the .VOB files in the VIDEO_TS folder, do they have sound? you may have 2 audios in avi / dvd, your apps are set to play other (long shot?)
I googled that and found nothing. Yeah the .avi file plays fine, Nero just seems to have trouble detecting the audio stream. No sound, just video.
http://www.google.co.uk/search?sour..._en-GBGB244GB244&q=virtualdub+mp3+VBR+freeze+ ok you say the vob has no audio drop it in GSPOT and see if audio is in there! if it is then it may be a codec issue or check it has 2 audios in there and see if 1 is blank (audio 1)... i think convertxtodvd will show audio too when you drop a file in (check both avi and a MAIN MOVIE vob)... gspot is better!
yeah looks ok and good to go... hmmm thats the avi though? what about a encoded vob? -------- could be a setting like MUTE in the dvd player? a setting in encode process? what apps you useing again?
Yeah that's the one. I just used ConvertXtoDVD to make the DVD file, and then imported that file with NeroVision and the audio played, but the video had the watermark, so I can't do it that way. Gah! this is frustrating, if ConvertXtoDVD can detect and write the audio stream why cant NeroVision?! EDIT: here's the picture from NeroVision with the normal file before ConvertXtoDVD has done anything to it.
use dvd flick a free app! very good! nero must be bombing out but why not sure? maybe it cant read the file too good? tell me have other episode avi worked ok on vbr mp3 audio or was the audio different? im checking nero back in mo... what nero version you on? and why must you use nero? (as nero may need a mp3 plugin installed - its there but needs a serial/code added!!!) to activate...
I have gotten NeroVision 5 to write other .avi files the only difference between them is the one that isn't working is that the the ones that work are encoded with the DIV3 codec rather than the ones not working that use the DX50 codec. However those are video codecs so I don't know why sudio is the problem. Thanks for pointing out DVDFlick, I guess I'll just have to use that one, does it allow you to make a menu? I guess I'm just a little disappointed that I spent money on The Nero 8 suite and a free program is better than one I spent money on. EDIT: Even though I doubt the video codec is to blame, is there a free app that will take my DX5 avi and re-encode with the DIV3 codec? Nero Recode can't do it can it?
