    Trying to install 7.0.1.2.

I've downloaded the demo from this site and Nero's site. Both the English version and the "All Languages" version.

No matter what version I download I can't get the installation to complete.

It stops during the copying new files phase about 20% in with the following error.

    Nero 7 Demo Installer Information

The file 'atl71FEF0F2AF.dll' cannot be installed because the file canot be found in cabinet file '542B4FA3.cab'. This could indicate a netw2ork error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? And has anyone found a fix?

Purchased the downloadable version from Nero for $80.00 and have the same problem for both the English version and the "All Languages" version.

This problem has showed up on two different machines using two different packages.

I have contacted Nero via e-mail two days ago - with no response as of yet.

Planning to contact them via phone support, but as an I.T. Administrator, I am not going to get my hopes up with a solution from their technical support.

If you make any progress, please reply.

I was able to download and start the installation on a separate workstation from my office.

I checked the cab file that was reported in the error to make sure it wasn't an empty file.

Then I copied the Cab directory from the temp directory the installation file expands too onto a flash drive, then started the installation on my laptop.

Before I accepted the first prompt on the installation on my laptop I copied the cab directory from my flash drive into the temp installation directory of my laptop.

I'm not sure what was preventing the cab file from extracting correctly on my laptop.

I know this is a backwards way of getting things to work but it did...

Can you advise of where the temporary directory that is created during installation located. I am aware of which cab file giving me problems and cannot locate.

I have downloaded about 5-6 times both at home and at work. Have yet to find a working package. Nero advised to shut down all antiviruses and firewall. Bullshi@#^&#. Should not have to go through these steps, especially when you pay for software!!

    Talk to you later.

If you're running Windows go to Start/Run and enter %temp% to get to your temp directory, there you should see a nero or nro directory. In that directory you'll see the install files and subdirs like CAB that you'll need.

If you do this to a machine that the installation works on, you can copy that cab directory to the machine you really want it on.

If this is too vague let me know, I'll try to recreate all my steps and document it...

I had the same problem. It seems that the initial unpacking is unreliable and doesn't create all CAB files properly (and there are tons). But everything is in the original file. Here is what you can do.

    1) start the installation and cancel it when it prompts you to actually start the installation
    2) go to your temp directory (in Local Settings of your account) where you'll see a Nero7.tmp directory. Rename it to Nero7_a.tmp
    3) in the CAB directory, sort by size and remove any CAB file whose size is 63 bytes
    4) do the first three steps again but at the end copy the contents of your Nero7.tmp/CAB directory to Nero7_a.tmp/CAB.
    5) repeat (4) until you have 369 CAB files (and none with a size of 63 bytes of course)
    6) start Nero7_a.tmp/SetupX. It should now work

It took me 3 iterations to get all the CAB files.

As a last step, you can archive your Nero7_a.tmp directory for future re-installations..!

    Hope that helps

Forgot one essential thing : after each iteration delete the Nero7.tmp directory (expect the first time where you rename it).

    Have fun!
