This is a cross post from dvd newbie which know one responded too I assume it should have gone in this forum

I started off using dvd shrink with what I thought were good results and then found the updated versions were not working as well. I now have been using dvddecrpytor with dvd2one and copydvd which I have been very happy with. Every once in a while I will get messages I will not be anble to make disk as it might not be playable , so I dont risk it( uselly with scrached dvds).
With one movie I was able to get 3 of 4 vob files onto the hardrive the 3rd vob was messed up. I tried burning what was left and it did not work(write failed error 030c00) ,if I renumber the remaining vob files will that work? Right now I have vob1,vob3,vob4 . I prefer not to use dvd shrink ( I notice there is a version 3.17 out)I am not even sure what you call what I am trying to do. If I can get the movie to work because it is around 2g I would like to add another movie to the disk as not to waste space. I have read how to do it using dvd dhrink but not copy2dvd. Thank You
PS part of my delima is not know nothing the proper search words to use, to see if this quistion has been aswered

If you open the Tools menu in DVD Decrypter and go to Settings at the bottom you'll get a popup with several tabs. Go to the I/O tab and check the checkbox in the bottom right corner next to Ignore Read Errors. This will allow you to rip most discs with errors. There will still be stuff missing, but not entire VOBs, and the DVD structure should still be intact after that.

Ok I will try that. I have always been afraid to do it because I thought the disk would not play.

There's no guarantee that it will, but the odds are better that way than if you have an entire VOB missing. Good luck, and let us know if you have any more problems. ;)

RobertJ; Can you just uninstall it and then go and delete all files tht gos to it then just reinstall it? Im using dvd shrink along with Nero and it works good on all DVDs The Trial Version of nero is only good for 15 days

this movie has been copied to my hard drive, I know longer have the dvd. It is not important that have the missing part of the movie(vob) as long as I can get the remaing ones to play. Now when I use dvdcopy2one/copydvd it only copies vob1 not vob3,vob4 . I thought if I renumbered the vobs in sequence it might work, however I am tired of wasting disks. My dvd player have a difficult time reading dvd-rw. So if I experimented that way I really dont know if it works or not.

    Hi.

If the damaged vob file is of no important to the movie, then why dont you just copy and paste another vob file (obviously one of a minimum size). And just re-name it to the name of the damaged vob.

Then surely that will take place of the damaged one.

    Richard.

    Thanks Richard

Alright that sounds good, If that should work why cant I just renumber the remaining ones in order.
