Hey everyone, I'm pretty new to this conversion technique but I've read up on a lot of ways to do this. I have the whole Dragon Ball anime series in MKV format and they are in Japanese (so much better sounding than the English version), but I'm not Japanese so obviously I need the subtitles on them. I want to convert the MKV file + subs into DVD format so that I can play them through my PS3. Here's what I've done so far: Installed MKVToolnix 2.2.0 + MKVExtractGUI 1.6.4.1 With this tool, I extracted the subs from the MKV file. This gave me two sub files: one .txt and one .ass. Installed VobSub 2.23 With this tool, I converted the .ass to .srt as is needed for the next software tool to recognize the subs. Installed DVDSanta 4.5 With this tool, I added the .mkv video file and the .srt subtitle file and began to create my DVD. The problem I'm having is that DVDSanta seems to crash midway through for whatever reason. Maybe there's a better way to convert my MKV + subs to DVD format? Or maybe someone can help me with this technique? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
If you note among the plentiful discussions on these boards regarding converting, DVDSanta is never recommended.
Ah yeah just browsed through these forums a bit and I saw that. Goodbye DVD Santa. I'm now trying to convert with Avi2DVD using this useful guide from the forum: http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/convert_mkv_to_dvd_with_freeware.cfm MUCH better software. The movie has converted all the way through and the subtitles are flawless, but I now have a new question. For those who have used Avi2DVD, if I want to put multiple episodes onto one DVD, do I create separate jobs and then click Go? Is this the correct method or how should it be done?
Sorry for the double post, but I really am trying to understand how this can be done with Avi2DVD. What I've read is that in order to join the files, you need to name them and then add CD1, CD2, CD3, etc. at the end of the file name. Here's what I did: Dragon Ball CD1 Dragon Ball CD2 Dragon Ball CD3 However when I click Go! to run the software, it returns an error while the movies are being joined. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
