Hi, I've setup a couple of Starview boxes on the N*L dublin network sucessfully. Now I've read there are different boxes required for MMDS service and cabled services. My question - Is the signal for an MMDS service where you have a square aerial on roof the same as what would come through piped cable which is fed from a central MMDS headend? And if both signals are the same will e.g the box-t work with both? Issue is I dont know whether the signal I receive is MMDS or cable. All houses in my area are cabled Chorus but when connecting directly to the main cable running past each house the only stations received are the 4 irish. I've tried using the box on the signal but no channels found which may suggest it is MMDS.
N** Cable and MMDS any standard DVB-C will do. Also works on Ch**us cable. For Ch**us MMDS you need the Box T or similar DVB-T device.
Thanks sc0user for the reply. Does it matter though how you get your MMDS signal? I know it works for MMDS when u have an aerial on roof which is connected to box-t but the area I live in is cabled and is fed from an MMDS headend mast. Do you know if it will work on this too?
If it is fed from a Ch**us MMDS communal mast then you need a DVB-T box, if it is fed from an N** MMDS communal mast then you need a standard DVB-C box. As you say you have a communal MMDS feed, you will not have an aerial. The cable will be fed from the mast to your estate and then house.
