Mobile Phone Tools stuck on 'initialising'?

This probably means you haven't set up MPT to work with your Motorola modem (the one in your mobile phone) and the software is trying to use your computer's modem.

Click on the 'Menu' button. When the drop-down menu appears, go to 'Setup'. Click on 'General Setup'. Click on the 'Communication' tab then on the 'Change Modem' button. A 'Welcome to the Device Configuration Wizard' window opens. Click 'Next'.

Highlight 'Motorola USB Modem' then click 'Next' then 'Next' and continue to 'Finish'. Your mobile phone modem has now been detected and MPT will be fully operational.

The mobile phone modem is handy for a laptop to get onto the internet but not much use on a PC which already has an internet connection via modem or cable.

    Enjoy.

What if "Motorola USB Modem" is not listed?

I would assume that you would have to manually install your Motorola USB Modem driver.

Connect your mobile phone to your PC and make sure it's switched on. Also make sure your MPT CD is in thePC's drive. Go to 'Install New Hardware' (start in 'Control Panel'). Tell the wizard not to let Windows detect your new hardware. When asked for the driver click on 'Have Disk' and point the wizard to your CD drive. Hopefully Windows will find the correct driver on the disc.

I only originally started this thread because my MPT was stuck on initialising and after a few hours of playing around with the software I stumbled across the solution and decided to pass my knowledge on, so I am far from being an expert LOL. i hope this works for you.

Okay.. well the reason I first came across this thread was because I didn't want to buy the software, but I think I may have to. It did not come with my phone, and is an extra $30 to buy. I've tried several of the downloads on this site on other threads, and have only come as far as the "initializing" step. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to give in and buy it sometime. My memory is almost used up from pictures. =/

Hey i also have a question with the motorola phone tools software.
I even ended up ordering the cd for $15 off of ebay. Every time i install it i got different issues. Then last night i tried again and i did a manual install and selected the motoola v3 for GSM not whereas my phone is a CDMA "Vwerizon Wireless" then i also became stuck on the initializing. Im going to try out what you said to do to change it but ill keep u updated, All i can say is that this software is a real pain in the butt.

I am having the same problem with my Motorola Phone Tools, and I tried to install the modem manually, but I can't get the file for the modem off the CD. Any advice?
