mobo and video card not working together

    is it possible for a mobo not to be able to take a 256mb card? it has a apg slot and it is an apg card someone told me that my mobo stops at 32mb is that possible

    not the ram on the card but the voltage for the card could stop it from working on the board. older agp slots used 3 volts compared to newer boards of 1.5 volts. what is the make & model # of the motherboard & videocard?

    the mobo is a UWAVE 78K1 and the card is a geforce fx 5500 agp 256mb

    is that an hp & if so what model # as i did a search for UWAVE 78K1 & came back not found??

    It's a Compaq 5000 series. Model# 5WV280.

    No I just bought the card and looked up the computer on hp.com and it said 8/16/32mb cards so I wanted to find out if that was it and I didn't want to open the card if it wasn't going to work.

    the card is made by 3d fuzion

    at the time the computer came out there was no 256meg videocards or very few of them.

    thank you I will just try it and make sure that I have all the latest downloads for the computer so that it will hopfully work.
