im thinking about building a new pc and i was wondering what kind of mobo u guys would recommend. im wanting to run an AMD Phenom 9850 quad-core so it would have to be the AM2+ socket. hopefully around 4Gs of RAM.

I would recommend getting an Intel Quad core. What's your budget on getting a new mobo?

The Q6600 is such a good CPU. It overclocks like a dream, something you wont see on the AMD. It's better at STOCK, and it overclocks more. It's a WIN WIN situation for the Intel.

Mine went to 3.6Ghz on air cooling(freezer 7 Pro). That cooler wasn't the greatest so I had to take it down to 3.2Ghz. If you get a Xigmatek S1283(I think that's the model number) you can keep that 3.6Ghz. It's pretty cheap too.

many ppl said they've been able to overclock their phenom to a whopping 3.8 Ghz. plus when i look at newegg(which is the place i will be ordering from)all the mobos capable of running an intel cpu cant holy as much ram as the amd capables. i want to make sure there's plenty of room to upgrade in the future.

Well those people are feeding you BULLSHIT. The best Phenoms can't overclock to 3ghz stable. 3.8Ghz is bullcrap and a bunch of lies.

The Motherboard krj15489 linked to supports EIGHT GB of ram. That's more than enough.

Also a Q6600 at 2.4Ghz will outperform the 2.5Ghz Phenom my 10 percent. After you OC the Q6600 it obliterates the AMD.

Core 2 Quad over Phenom. ALWAYS - you will fare much better with a board like a Gigabyte P35 and a Q6600 than you will with any motherboard and a Phenom, even the 9850 - and in the UK at least, the Q6600 is substantially cheaper than the 9850.
