I'm going to be modding my box soon. I want to keep my saved xbox game files. How can I retain my saved games status if I add the modchip? I guess the easiest thing to do is save all progress to a memory card, do the mod and then upload from the memory card to the box. Is the xbox memory card or 3rd party one funtional with a modded Xbox?

a mod chip won't touch your saves at all

    >after you get a modchip then you can acually use a program caled xbox-save manager, that will FTP all your orginal saves to PC as backups. and vise versa you can now load hacked saves from codejunkies, megaX, or xbox-saves.

do yourself a favor and get your box chipped right away, and you'll figure out you've been missing.

Sweet!!! I just took a look at my box - its version 1.0 w/ LPC filled =( Do you have experience with that? I bought a Xemium Ice w/ the soderless adapter, but it looks like I'll have to use the Iron anyway to clean out the LPC ports. I hope I don't mess it up. =(

You don't necessarily need to desolder the LPC points, just put the solderless adapter on top like your supposed to and make sure it is screwed down nice and tight.
