Hi everybody, New here so if its already been asked, please point me to it.

Im wondering which mod chip is the best. Im gunna' get an Xbox and a chip this week and would like to get a chip that supports the maximum amount of features such as installed games and backed up games.

I have several years experience working with electronics and I am pretty good at soldering so a "solderless" or solder chip doesnt matter. Id proably actually prefer a solder.

What Im really interseted in is installing my games to the machine but it would be nice to have them backed up in case I need to re-setup my box, that way I can leave the original's in there plastic case-o safety.

    Thanks for the input.

Also, any linkies to how-to's would be greatly appreciated.

Every chip does basically the same thing and every one will have there own opinion as to which is the best.

As long as you can flash the chip with a current bios then you can install a larger harddrive and back up your games to the harddrive. It's a function of the bios on the chip, not the chip itself.

I am a newb, Please follow Rustydawgs and other pros thoughts. Was basing my information on very limited experience and honestly I should not have.

Good luck on your choice though.

I see, all done by the BIOS. So as long as a have a chip with suffient memory I should be able to run any BIOS and be able to use every feature that BIOS suports.

    Thanks

Ahh, multiple BIOS sounds tempting, Especially with external access

Yup.. i agree with ya'll. The chip you want is a matter of preference. I like the Chameleon chip. I have installed many of them. You can flash the BIOS to the chip thru the Evox X menu. There are dip switches so you can cut up the BIOS memory into sections so you can flash multiple BIOSs to it. Unfortuneately, you have to open up the Xbox to flip those dip switches. I'm gonna have to take a look at that Xbit chip but I still like that flashing of my modchip without that USB cable.
