i have a xbox 1.0 and in the area where you place the chip (xecuter 2.6 lite plus solderless) i was having problems with the adapter staying in place on the 12 or so pins. i noticed that all the tutorial pics have holes where the chip connects, mine did not have that. it was sealed with silver metal. are there specific versions that have these holes already made?
The Xbox v1.0 have solder in the LPC holes,so you will have to get the solder out.I would just use something like this http://secure.llamma.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=25&products_id=291 .All you have to do really is heat it up with a soldering iron and then pull it out with the desolder pump. The tutorials listed probably are not showing a XBox v1.0 ,but like you mentioned they do have solder in the LPC holes where the pins are suppose to go for a modchip. If your skeptic about doing it you should probably send your system to a modchip installer and let them do it.
well, i wrote the thread bc i already fried my xbox =( no big deal, learn from my mistakes. but if i'm understanding you right, i can buy any xbox v1.1-v1.6 and they will have the holes in them?
Yipes, sorry to hear that bro but yeah any Xbox version above v1.0 will have no solder in the LPC pin holes.
to close the thread, i got a v1.3 xbox it did have the holes in it, and the chip sank into it like a dream. everything's working great. thanks!
