modchip question

    ok im buying a mod chip, does it have anything on it when i get it new or do i have to install something on it....if i need to install something on it waht do i put on it, do i have to install it to the xbox first???? help me out plaese!!!!

    depending on what you get, it will probably have a cromwell bios on it. you will need to flash it with a MS bios such as evox or xecuter or something similar in that nature, only then can you play backed up games. but first install the chip in the xbox. after that look around for a flashing tutorial, it can be a little complicated to flash for the first time. just do you research and you will be fine. you might also want to install a new dashboard after you flash it.

    Right, you'll need to flash the BIOS, and then you'll need to get / create a boot CD that helps you install whatever it is you want to run on it - I used the "Slayer" CD, and it worked great - after that, you should have a working ftp daemon on the box, so you can FTP any further changes you want to make to it (like XBMC, or alternate dashboards, utilities, homebrew apps, etc.).
