Hi is it possible to make a gamecube modchip becasue on http://modthatcube.pxn-os.org/content/regionfree.htm u make a region free chip sooooo....
Ya, except you aren't making a chip, you're merely altering what's already there. You can't make the gamecube do anything it wasn't built to do (boot backups, homebrews etc) unless you have the BBA.
Well im guessin if u take a blank chip from radio shack download the viper bios and put it there then solder it on it wood work
OK, chips need programming not just say I'll buy the components. It took 5 years to develop the first modchip for the GC and u want to make one in several days. Good luck
Well, the first part of cracking the gamecube was thanks to Sega. Without the PSO exploit, the system would still be secure, because no one would have anything to work from, for reverse engineering the boot codes.
XD @ idea of buying a chip at Radio Shack, flashing it with the Viper BIOS, and installing it in a GC.
you could go to radio shack and get a chip to mod you PSX i think thats about it. im sure there is a way to do it for the GC, but you would need a great understanding of how the GC works, what things are and do on the Motherboard and how it interacts and talks to the software, also you would need to know how to program and need the tools to program chips. it would be easier and cheaper to buy a mod chip. Also the the Region mod is not a chip its built into the GC, your just "exploiting" that resistor and redirecting (or changing) the signal. the only thing your adding in that mod is a switch (if you need to)
As I recall, the PlayStation had tons of modifications available for it to play back-ups. Exploits involving the rear port (while it had it anyway), chips, swap discs, all kinds of stuff. Things have changed a lot since then, which is why the idea of buying stuff at Radio Shack and making a working mod chip is hilarious.
