Ordered a WASPKEY from www.modchips4u.co.uk Thought it was ok because payment via paypal and the site is listed on WASP official resellers. Have not received item yet and it is listed as "shipped" on saturday 22 aug via royal mail 1st class recorded. Phone number on website is invalid, paypal phone number is ringing but no answer. What should I do?
i think you are being inpatient to be honest mate... it is only tuesday after all... the earliest it could possibly have arrived was yesterday but lets be real this is royal mail we are talking about!! i think u should allow at least a week before asking if you have been scammed haha infact... why are u buying a modchip??? why not just softmod?
I was going to ask the same question. I don't know why anybody would waste money on a modchip at this point in the game.
I agree, royal mail is bullshit, but it concerns me that his website phone number "has not been recognised", and he isn't answering his (different) paypal number. I have opened a dispute with paypal, but if someone out there has successfully ordered from modchips4u please post so I can cancel the dispute and relax. Thanks PS. Softmod involves buying Zelda or Action Replay etc, costs the same but not a hardware modification and could more easily be fooled by a new copy protection.
Incorrect. You need to read up on the bannerbomb exploit. Super easy and no game required. BTW, I have a modchip (wiikey 1st gen) and I've had nintendo already block that once so your logic isn't very sound when comparing softmod to modchip. Modchip at this point affords no added benefits to softmodding.
Fair enough, I should have done the appropriate research. Still needs an SD card but I agree these are cheaper than modchips. Fact is, I've ordered a modchip which probably won't arrive. So I'm going to have to go through the extremely long winded paypal claims process. Better than nothing I guess? Unless I stand corrected and it arrives tomorrow..but I somewhat doubt it.
no offense mate but opening a paypal dispute after 3 days is a joke!! go make a cup of tea and chill out haha and your p.s sounds cocky!! maybe u need to read up on current softmod methods first!! no game is needed.. mod chips are pretty much obsolete now days i beleive!
About the softmod, I only made the comparison because I have had experience with a modchip PS2 (perfect), and one running memcard exploit - didn't go well. But clearly there have been improvements in the softmods for Wii. I wouldn't normally panic after just 3 days, but in this case the signs are pointing in the 'scammed' direction. Rest my mind by giving me a reason why this seller has an invalid phone number on his website? Then I'll be quiet (I promise). Thanks
I thought maybe you were basing your assumption from previous system experience. I understand your reluctance. I've been modding for years and for the most part you are correct. Hard mods tend to be more reliable and less patch proof than software mods but like the original xbox, that is not the case here. Also unlike the PS2 exploit, you only use the exploit on the wii to install the homebrew channel. There is no need to run the exploit ever after that. Once the Homebrew channel is installed you are on the same page with all modded wii's wether you have a chip or not. A mod chip does not give you the access to install homebrew or replace IOS's or run preloaders. That's all done using the homebrew channel. In the case of the wii, a modchip only allows you to run burned games from the disc channel. With all the new usb loaders and the ton O' homebrew apps that are out there for the wii right now there is no reason to even run a game from the disc channel any more. Besides, even if wanted to you can hack the channel to play burned games without the need for a modchip anyway. The wii homebrew scene is rockin right now so I wouldn't worry too much about Nintendo blocking a softmod. Even if they did manage to patch it, if you have the homebrew channel, and bootmii and/or preloader installed, (all of which have nothing whatsoever to do with a modchip) there isn't anything that Nintendo can do to stop you really at this point in time.
Ya, give it few more days, it'll go thru Royal Mail, and enter the USA somewhere nearby your home(provided it makes it thru Customs) and then thru USPS.
i dont think the dude is from the usa lol seen as tho it was sent royal mail recorded delivery as far as i know thats a uk only service but can take upto a week
I am in UK, here is the royal mail first class recorded description: The website order status was changed to "Shipped" on Saturday 22 Aug.
Received today, turns out the item was actually shipped on 24 Aug (according to the stamp). So I can relax. Thanks, close the thread.
