So I have two problems with my Wii that I just modded. Its a D2E Chip and I got the Wii Key 2. First the there is no disk in the drive, but I can not insert a disk. its acting like there is already a disk in there (the little metal things are sticking up) so I can't insert a disk. I have tried to manually eject, turned the power on and off, nothing has worked. Does anyone else have any suggestions? Second, I am getting the black screen. I everything works fine, I was able to send a recieve messages, play around on the Mii Channel, etc.. I started to play sonic the hedgehog, and abouyt 2 mins into it the screen went black. I was able to turn the power off, then back on and tried again. Same thing. Now I am unable to turn the power off by the wii remote and have to physically unplug the wii from the power cord. Im not sure what else to do. My dad did a pretty good job soldering the wires, but we are sure there is a bad connection or something. Any advice, suggestions??
Amy, Would it be possible to see a picture of your install? And this is a wired install and not a clip, correct? Make sure wires for power and ground are thicker that the signal wires. ABC and G plus power and ground need to be soldered. Also, it may help to solder to the pin on the G point instead of the point that the WiiKey 2 diagram indicates.
Sorry I don't have any pictures. We resoldered some of the points and got the Wii to eject and load disks, but I was still receiving the black screen when trying to play. The chip was also still giving a red light as well. We decided to take the chip off and the Wii works fine. We decided to order the solderless one instead and going to see how if that works better. Im not the best at soldering but my dad is and he didn't think they were on there good enough, so he thinks thats what the problem was. So will see how the solderless one does. Hi Amy Just another thing to remember when you install a modchip into your console make sure you play a game from your own region first before playing backups from other regions ;-)
