Hi, my son just bought a modded xbox and this is the info on it:
This is a hard modded (chipped) XBox, so you can disable the chip and still play on Live. Don't let some scam artist talk you into a soft mod, they are harder to deal with and rarely allow for Live. This chip is a great chip (X2.6CE) from TeamXecuter, but I have other chips available. We also do hard drive upgrades! Check the price list at the bottom.

Many apps come installed. It comes with emulators, loaders, alternate dashboards such as evox and avalaunch, a region free DVD player, and the great XBMC.

And yes, even at this price it does include one controller, av cord, and power cord. Also the hard drive is currently the 8 gb factory standard.

    XBMC(XBox Media Center):
    -- Play most file formats ( AVI,MPG,MP3,MP4,DIVX,XVID ... )

    DVD2XBOX & PxHDD Loader :
-- Rip games to your Hard Drive for later playing.
-- Save movies to for watching later.

    DVDX2-Region Free DVD Player:
-- Plays Movies Without the DVD Remote
-- Play a DVD from ANY Region
-- Easy To Use, 1 Button Operation

    Emulators:
    -- NeoGenesis v16
    -- Surreal64
    -- XBoyAdvance
    -- xSnes9x
    -- Plus many more
we know nothing about any of this. we need help in downloading emulators and installing them, i mean walked though as if we were toddlers!!! Also, I understand we can do nothing without a upgraded hd and we need to know how to do that. i have installed a hd in a com, is it the same way? what about all the info on the hd drive that is already on there?
    Please, can anyone help?

alright well as it is Hard modded (chipped) this is a good thing for you, go to a torrent site and download "slayers Evox auto installer 2.7" and burn the final files to a disc and put the new hard drive in the xbox and put the disc in the drive, the hard drive will go in just as it did on the computer except you wont have to bolt it in to hold it up, and once the hard drive is in turn on the console with the disc in it should boot up the installer and just install needed dash files to boot the console and there ya go!

ok, thanks for that, I think I can do that. The guy we bought the xbox from says we don't need more hd to install emulators. Can you help me with that? Where can I download the emulators and after I burn them to a cd what next? do I just put the disk in the xbox and save somewhere?

ummm use this to get online in xbins and download them from the xbins distribution and burn them to a disc and copy them to the folder on the hard drive called E:\emulators and restart the xbox and they should work

you don't need any auto installer, just download BAED (big ass emulator disc) from the torrent sites, there are 4 versions use all or any one you wish.

you allready have XBMC and DVD2XBOX installed so after you burn those discs you can use the DVD2XBOX to copy them to the drive (easy task if you don't know FTP'ing) just launch XBMC, goto programs, then select programs icon and launch DVD2XBOX, it's pretty cut and dry from there what you do.

also the X3ce would of been a better chip but it's a little late for that now.

Roms are easy to get, there are many places to get them from. You can go onto an IRC channel, and find all sorts of Roms. Also, I would recomend getting a larger HDD for your system, because I don't think that 8GB will last long. That's just my opinon. I have a 200GB in my xbox, and I have like 150GB free, but I have crammed a whole lot of crap onto it. So you could go to this website:

    http://xboxdrives.x-pec.com/?p=list

It has a list of all these HDD's that are compatible with the xbox. This is a really great website to help anyone out with new HDD's.

So ya, there are tons of places to go for Roms (I just don't think I'm allowed to post those). Just Google it, and tons will pop up. And also, the HDD would be a good idea, if you are wanting to add more games to your system (cause an Xbox game can be 2GB-5GB, so 8GB won't cover that many).

Hope this helps you in your Modding.

better change those up a bit, just in my small collection of XBOX games they range in size from 36 Meg to 6.03 Gig and there are many many less then a Gig in size.

Hey, thanks everybody for the help. We finally realized we did not need emulators but roms or rather we realized that was what we were trying to download. We have managed to get a few games so far. I will also check out the harddrive place. I will also look for the IRC channel, although I do not know what it is. Also, I went to torrentsite.com and didn't really see anything I could use.

You could probably use any kind of HDD for your Xbox, just look at the page I gave, for a source to see if the HDD you are buying will work. Also, RPM stands for Rotations Per Minute. I have a Maxtor 200GB 7200RPM HDD, and it works fine, and you can get a pretty cheap HDD if you just look around. Here is where I went:

    http://www.dealdetectives.com

People post articles of different items that are on sale at different stores. You can also use the search bar on the right, and just type in like 200GB, or something like that, and it will give a lot of results.

I hope this will help you out. I got my HDD for $50 at Staples, all because of Dealdetectives, so you mine as well give it a shot.

you only need to worry about a locking drive if you plan to go on Xbox live. I never lock my drives.

you can download roms individually or you can usually get every rom for a system in one big download if you check out a torrent site.
I prefer www.isohunt.com and bt.xbox-sky.com for my torrents.
