my modded xbox won't play anything, i was trying out some of the settings of turning some of the filters on in xbox media center when it told me turn my xbox off to activate the changes, so i did and now i cant access anything.

after the green xbox screen comes on it goes black with yellow fuzzy lines on the top portion of the screen. it won't play anything and i cant even access anything.

i know nothing about modding anything, got my xbox off of ebay without knowing it was modded. i also have no clue what mod chip it is. damn i should of left it alone, had my xbox for awhile and wanted to find out what the mod chip was capable off..... lol

You could have just screwed yourself, while your at it you might as well reflash your tsop with a cromwell bios. IF YOU DON"T KNOW WHAT IT DOES, DON"T MESS WITH IT. As far as redoing what you have done and praying your chip has a cache large enough for another hacked bios you can always reflash your chip with a bios and reformat your HDD with Slayer v2.6 found in the usual places. Open your XBOX and see what kind of chip you have (hope it's one with a cache larger than 256k that way you don't have to buy a programmer). Were you running EvolutionX, Avalaunch, UnleashX. Install EvoX for a bios. I used +3935 and i haven't had any problems with it. Good Luck and sorry for the sarcasm, i just hate seeing people having to clean up other peoples messes.

i agree, i shouldn't of touched anything. i was watching a movie and it wasn't displaying correctly with the screen being all fuzzy. i had no idea that turning a few filter on from the media center setting on would do this as im a complete noob. anyway i opened my xbox and saw that there wasn't any chip inside, the board under the HDD has some white soldering and thats pretty the only thing i could find that has been altered. i'm assuming my xbox was using TSOP. any further tip would be much appreciated, thanks.

Your TSOP is what your original bios (basic input and output signals)the xbox uses to launch its original dashboards and games. The TSOP (thin small outer/outlined? package) isn't the problem though not having a chip confuses me. Softmod? I can only help if you have a chip. Consider a chip and i can help you out with any modding question you have. I'm Not an experienced softmod xboxer. Good luck and let me know if you go with a chip. i can walk you through any step.

I've been thinking of getting a modchip, which modchip would you recommend? and is there anything else i need besides the mod chip itself? also i hear there are the solderless chips, that may be better for me as i'll probaly screw up if i have to solder anything.

    I have a 1.6b version xbox
