Modded XBOX tries to boot three times and flashes red/green

I am a huge newbie when it comes to this so please bear with me....

I purchased a modded xbox from a friend of mine so i have no idea about what kind of modhcip or anything like that. I know that it does have a mod chip (no soft mod) and a 300 GB harddrive.

I was using XBMC and the power went out at my house. when i tried to turn the XBOX back on it tried to boot three times and after the third time it started flashing red/green.

I have read a few threads on this, but i need more of a simplified answer if anyone can help.
